• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I understand, but there is such a thing as liberal dictatorship i e.: cultural marxism, which is what America has become. And the rule of law and rule of justice is out the window. The USA has become corrupt, and the rapid demographic changes means eventually America will see civil war II, it's not a question of "if", but rather, "when?".
huh, interesting. just out of curiosity, who are the liberal dictators you're talking about? who's responsible for it?

When I was a kid/young teenager, it was awesome to visit NYC. It was a beautiful city that felt magical.
Yup, years ago, I used to go myself with friends, sometimes for movies, sometimes for live performances. From what I understand, they now have national guards in the subway stations. Of course, the purpose for this is to prevent people from jumping the turnstile, not to fight crime as they claim, because people are still getting attacked and pushed into the train tracks, all while the national guard is right there.

"Grass is always greener on the other side" is an easy trap to fall into imo. I'd prefer to live in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, or pretty much anywhere in Europe with a couple of exceptions on the East than anywhere else. Bound to have missed a few but you get the idea. US is probably not top of that list, but it's in the top 20. There's a reason so many people want to live in these places that they need to reject the majority. The real problems of the other countries are significantly or entirely eradicated, so we blow out of proportion the relatively few that remain.

And speaking of NYC @derpyderpins and the current state of affairs, this recent clip, one can't help but laugh out loud at the supposed blind guy in the subway yelling "That's the most fucked up shit I've ever seen!".

I like the way you say 'Aluminum'. We pronounce and spell it 'Aluminium' in the UK. I don't know why but your version sounds more mystical.

I don't know enough about America to like or hate it. I think like all countries, it must have good and bad to it.

I begrudgingly love the US and the idea that anyone from anywhere can be an American. America takes in more refugees than the rest of the world combined, and the majority of Americans today, including myself, are descended from at least a few. The whole population itself is descended from immigrants who mostly came in the last century, which instills a sense of shared nationalism not based on ethnicity or race but on the ideaology of democracy and individual rights. The vast majority of even the far rightwing nationalists are in support of some consistent immigration. From what I have heard the US is also better at assimilating immigrants both culutrally and economically than many European, African, or Asian nations.

Having said this, the government itself is often paralyzed, and despite having such great wealth and power, individuals within government and industry on both sides often make a concious decision to abandon the well being of the poor and working class. It isn't about capitalism vs. communism as some make it out to be, but on whether the government is willing to provide basic affordable healthcare and affordable shelter to those in need.

Large corporations held by a few wealthy individuals and families have held quasi-control over the government through legalized bribery for decades. Likeweise most mainstream media corporations are owned and controlled by a small number of individuals. The wealthy are able to both subvert the rule of law and manipulate it against others without consequence, all the while wealth inequality is rapidly increasing. It doesn't help that many wealthy people try to pay less in taxes than a minimum wage worker. If the rule of law can be bent openly the perception of the law as infalliable will continue to go down the drain as more and more people begin to question the legitimacy of the government itself.

There is also at times a lack of any sense of community. Many people don't feel like they have any stake in society in general and therefore feel less obligated to contribute to the collective. If you are disconnected and disaffected by those around you and you feel no pride in any organization (like your nation) the only thing that gives life meaning is generating more wealth for your own personal enjoyment. This loss of community is weaponized on both the left as a symptom of late stage capitalism and shitty urban planning and on the right as a loss of national identity and culture, but neither side acts with any efficiency to fix it.

Another problem is that with increased polarization, personal ideas of what defines "America" are starting to diverge too rapidly, leading to occasional violence. Mass shootings (like 20+ people) perpetrated by a societal outcast or a frustrated student have been happening every few years for my whole life, but politically motivated shootings are (although usually more like 5-10 people) becoming more common than they used to be, which should be mildly concerning imo.

Although I just wasted 10 minutes of my life typing some complaints instead of actually doing something productive with my life so yknow maybe I am the problem here. I don't believe in the "USA is the greatest nation to have ever existed on the planet so you're not allowed to have an opinion" line but its true that materialistically life for many is significantly better here than in much of the world.

Lol thanks I guess? I actually prefer the British way. I had some British teachers in high school and they would say "aluminium". It sounded so cool. I love British accents; they sound much more sophisticated. All words sound smarter the British way. I don't like American accents. They seem tacky to me honestly

I wish I was born elsewhere all the time. We're all so delusional in the US. Our values are skewed and we teach our children to be self centered. Sometimes I ponder what life would have been like growing up anywhere else. The UK really seems a lot better.

lol I feel this way about the UK pronunciation, I find it cute and fun to randomly say. I don't often get to say that I find other countries' pronunciations or accents cute cuz I feel like I'm being condescending or fetishistic but I swear I'm not 💀

Same. How are we delusional? By the way, what do you mean by "our values are skewed?" How so? Are you talking about the rampant materialism and consumerism in society? The people from the UK on this forum seem to hate it though. They call it an "island hell hole". I guess the grass isn't always greener on the other side. There's a song that describes the US pretty well in my opinion, it's called Chained to the Rhythm

"If you're black, you got to look at America a little bit different. You got to look at America like the uncle who paid for you to go to college, but who molested you." - Chris Rock

I think about this joke / quote a lot. I definitely have a love hate relationship with the US, it affords me privileges that I wouldn't have elsewhere and also fucks me over in ways that wouldn't happen elsewhere. I'm the type to rock a set of American flag booty shorts, a tied shirt and a cowboy hat while ranting about how much this country sucks lol, I criticize America often and harshly but it kind of stings when people from other countries criticize it (partially cuz I fear I come off as a dumb American) 💀

I'm Asian lol but I don't know how Asians in general look at America. Personally, I have a hate hate relationship with America. I would never "rock a set of American flag booty shorts, a tied shirt and a cowboy hat"

Fair, this country definitely has a way of othering anyone who doesn't fit the "standard," especially to act so proud of the same diversity that it often seems so afraid and disdainful of. I just hope you aren't judging me as harshly as you seem to be but eh, it's your right to judge I suppose, lol

Other countries objectively have it worse than America. America is the best country in the world, we have freedom and democracy.

Do you want to know why immigrants are attracted to America? Because they know, America won't bomb or invade itself, so they feel secure in this country. But it's ironic, they travel to the very source that causes them such terror.

I'm Asian lol but I don't know how Asians in general look at America. Personally, I have a hate hate relationship with America. I would never "rock a set of American flag booty shorts, a tied shirt and a cowboy hat"
All racial stereotypes are inherently negative. Asians have this "model minority" status, but all it does is cause us harm. We are like white people, but without the white privilege and all of the drawbacks. Whites think they'll achieve world peace after genociding all of us Asians, but is that the truth? Look at how whites have colonized other races, and even plundered themselves. Asians disappearing won't solve anything. They will consume their surroundings, and ultimately cannibalize each other if given the opportunity. The proof is in their hyper-individualistic culture. "Fuck you, got mine." "Every man for themselves." "The wild west." Yippity yeehaw. Despite that, they still have some semblance of solidarity with each other. United by a common hatred towards Middle Easterners, Asians, Russia, Africa, whatever... the Big Bad target constantly changes to keep things fresh, and the average American doesn't have the memory to realize what's being done to them anyways. Their teamwork is tied loosely by hatred, not silly emotions like empathy. Is America even a country? It's more like a storefront for the mafia. While whites are distracted by Asians, they don't notice how the elites strangle their necks from behind. HA HA HA HA!

I don't hate America. I just wish they would stop calling themselves the greatest country on earth when they have so many issues. Stop arming countries (like Israel and Saudi Arabia). Give your citizens better healthcare and education and stop beating up on trans folks and immigrants all the time. Oh, and what's with all the mass shootings and the obsession with guns? The divide has never been greater. I'll never understand the country, but at least the hotdogs and the movies are good. Sometimes.

I live in the U.S. I like it over all.

Now everyone has their own thoughts and opinions on any subject, however NO country is without their goods OR bads, NO COUNTRY PERIOD.

So is a country like any in Europe, Asia or ANYWHERE any better? NOPE! We ALL have our good and not so good aspects, BUT at the end of the day we as a species BETTER get along with each other and move to the stars or we WILL be another sad case like the dinosaurs were.

So, in conclusion, a person could debate about this till the cows came home and left again and it always will have pluses and minuses.

WE ARE ALL THE SAME, HUMAN. No matter the nationality, religion, skin color, ANYTHING, and picking on any country is just a super negative.

I LOVE the U.S. Europe, Asia, EVERYWHERE.

Walter
