• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

That's just objectively incorrect, isn't it?

Some people will objectively have a bad life and can't achieve what society deems as acceptable because they were born in poverty for example and because of many more terrible things that happen to them; not because they are the unavoidable harsh truths of real life, but because WE let them happen.

Others will have a bad life (me) because I don't care about what society deems acceptable and yet I reap the consequences of going against my human nature, first and foremost from the human body (which sucks) and then society (which hates different individuals). However I kind of fall in the first paragraph too, more so in the unmentioned terrible things part.

Anyways what do you think about the message from the quotes? are they right or is that just their bias talking?

If youre coming from a place of peace, it's hard to imagine a place of suffering and vice versa.

You've made good points. Some people are born into terrible circumstances and, if you live in a place like the US, they will struggle with trying to improve their lives because the system really does not help them. In reality, the system punishes them through a variety of means, i.e. inadequate "assistance" programs and substandard housing and food.

Then there's Depression. It does not matter what demographic you belong to. It affects all of us in terrible, terrible ways.
It skews our view of the world and plunges us into darkness.
It makes us feel inadequate. Weak. Vulnerable.
It crushes our motivation and leave us exhausted.
It limits our perception and cognitive abilities.
It forces us to isolate because society and the system does not understand how to treat it or us.

Depression is the great equalizer. It does not discriminate but if you're already vulnerable in poverty, then depression only makes things worse. Because, at least wealthy people can afford treatment or meds.

I despise my depression but despise those who don't understand offer advice.

I think it's partly idealistic, wishful thinking. Plus I suppose- what else could they say that doesn't make them look utterly callous? Oh well- nevermind. That's just how the cookie crumbles. They brought it on themselves. Better them than us? It probably makes them feel like a decent person to say- Oh, how dreadful. No one should have to go through that. Before they forget all about it again.

These days- I'm more likely to go on an antinatilist rant if say, we're encouraged to feel bad about children starving in the third world. Of course, we should feel bad for them but then, why on earth did their already starving parents bring them into this in the first place? Same goes for people with hereditary illnesses. Really- the same for everyone to an extent. Why toss your child into such a lottery like life? Then be amazed when it all goes wrong?

I mean... there are real diseases, mental conditions, and chemical imbalances that can cause a person to be disconnected from reality in such a way that they do not see joy where there is joy or feel good when good things happen. These are sometimes difficult to diagnose and equally difficult to treat... but these are people who can and should be helped as much as possible.

The rest of us, and I think the majority of us, are people who are otherwise healthy people who genuinely are reacting properly to the world and our place and experiences in it... and for many of it, there isn't a simple fix like change your environment or get a new job or whatever... for many of us it is the status quo that is the real source of our dismay... and in that case, there is little to be done for us... because IF the rest of the world saw things the same way as we do, or didn't benefit from our suffering in some way... then they wouldn't like it either... and the world could be fixed.

in the sense that there is no intent in a capricious and arbitrary material world, i guess it's correct?
