Hello, does anyone else play an instrument or studies classical music? It has been my dream since I was young to study music, but it was denied because of my families lack of emphasis on education and money problems. I joined orchestra in high school, but wasn't taught the foundations and my passion slowly fizzled out because of my lack of skill and depression. It had been at least 4 years since I touched my cello, and actually a cello teacher reached back to me after 2 years from when I first emailed her haha. But, I was able to start cello lessons this year. My passion for music has always been here, but I know I could've been so much more advanced at my age if I was given proper education when I was young. It has always been my dream to play in an orchestra, like I did in high school. I don't get many opportunities now even though I try hard to reach out to the music professors and get into clubs and such. Also, I wonder how i can begin to study music in college. I think it may be too late. This denial of my dream has driven me into the dead end state I am now, even when I tried to deny it and study other things. Anyways, I have been attending classical music concerts as much as possible and I attended a masterclass as well. I always want to learn as much as I can, even though my life is past the point where I can strive towards this as a goal. My favorites are concertos such as Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D major Op. 35. It reminds me of much hope and passion, and is very romantic. Another I love is Elgar's cello concerto. The first movement is a beautiful sound of grief that Elgar wrote as a response of the first world world. I wish I could afford lessons and have more time to learn and practice.
