City suggestions for N in Peru, or Mexico

Hi Everyone, I am new here so I cannot search yet. I live in Europe and I speak 3 languages, including Spanish.
I would be willing to go to either Peru or Mexico in search of N.
I have two questions:
Are these countries are still viable options? Is there anyone that was successful there recently, like in the last 12 months?
And what cities would you recommend? I would prefer Mexico over Peru, as I lived in Mexico for almost 6 months and it is one of my favorite countries.
However I would be willing to go to Peru also, or any other South American country.
(I am going blind due to glaucoma so I would have to go there while I still have vision and the time is ticking)

Anyone has recent Mexican city experiences? I really like Mexico, but I will go to Peru if Mexico is no longer a good option
