I found this while searching for more information on CO. Can anyone tell me if this is at all true?

Near bottom of this website:

"What Others Say About Carbon Monoxide Suicide
It is commonly believed that carbon monoxide poisoning leads to death that resembles sleep. However, that is not true. Carbon monoxide causes immense pain and discomfort and causes convulsions and muscle spasms as the body's desperate attempts of seeking oxygen. One acquaintance of mine committed suicide using carbon monoxide and his body was so badly disfigured that his family was denied to see the body. His facial capillaries had burst, his eyeballs had popped and his tongue had swollen to prop the jaw open unnaturally. I think no one can say that is peaceful.
As far as I know, carbon monoxide is produced during incomplete combustion, which can be very difficult to produce. That might explain why it is not a very widespread method of suicide.
Suicide via carbon monoxide poisoning takes a long time and gives one a terrible headache and infinite pain. Things only get worse. If your friends, family or roommates are sleeping in the same room, the smoking of burning charcoal will cause harm to them. That guilt will swallow you! So guys, no matter how bad life appears, it gets better. Suicide should not be a way of dealing with problems, as it only hurts you, your friends and family."

People die in accidents with carbon monoxide, and many die without even realizing what is happening and not even asking for help, I think this can be considered a peaceful death.

The article starts out, right before the obligatory bullshit like "it gets better" and help lines, by saying CO is dangerous and can quickly kill. Then it says it's excutiating and slow. Well. Which is it? Whatever you fear most, I suppose. It's poorly written, and completely against suicide, so it brings its own grains of salt.
Interresting stuff, tho, about starting the car cold and keeping it in idle to get around the converter. I wonder if it's worth looking into.

The build-up may have been too slow.

CO at high levels should lead to unconsciousness in a few breaths. Once unconscious, you shouldn't even realize anything happening to you thereafter. There's a Megathread on SaSu regarding CO. You should read it fully if this is a method you're interested in.

CO is a very lethal gas by itself. It binds 300x easier to the iron ion in the red blood cells than oxygen therefore it's not exchanged with fresh oxygen in the lunges while still CO2 is exhaled. Therefore no suffocation feeling exists while still the brain and cells are dieing because of a lack of oxygen. There's no SI kicking in if done correctly.
