Campaign to legalize sanctioned suicide

Hi everyone! I would like to get 100 or more people together to help me come up with a plan to legalize sanctioned suicide.
I did do some research on who is in charge of laws and making laws and found that the house of representatives and the senate are incharge Speaker of the house is currently Nancy Pelosie(not sure if spelled right) and here is a list of the main ones preceding her:

My suggestion is that each of us writes an essay on why sanctioned suicide should be legal.(population issues, less money would have to be spent on mental health, it would create jobs.etc) we would write each section of the legislative branch and put it together with a petition.

If we are talking about assisted suicide though, then I'm pretty sure This wouldn't do anything. Cause 100 people is too little, plus those people probably don't have time to read essays

Bringing this forum to the attention of legal people is a bad idea. Even if you wrote essays upon essays, if they think suicide is evil and "will send you to hell" they will lock this forum.

This sounds more like legalizing suicide than legalizing this site. They're still trying to pass a law against this site, and even that's not doing a whole lot. This website really isn't illegal but people think it is because, in their words, it "assists children and the vulnerable."

Your points are valid, don't get me wrong. Sadly suicide would help many of those things but those aren't reasons as to why this site SHOULD be up imo. Again, this sounds a lot like legalizing suicide than this site.

Well I'm still confused if you wanna legalize sanctioned suicide as in this site..which doesn't make sense because it is already legal OR if you wanna legalize assisted suicide
If you want to legalize assisted suicide you'd need millions of people agreeing and stuff, people take suicide as a really big deal and most people are pro lifers. Not everyone considers it as escape from torture that is life. This is nearly impossible

I am confused... how does sanctioned influence how much money is spent on mental health? I mean, if I understand where you are coming from.. it doesn't sound like a good argument. While it does make sense that less money will be spend on mental health, cause you don't need to heal a corpse, I don't think people would actually want to hear it and understand it as a benefit.

You cannot expect people to suddenly feel ok with suicide merely by proposing that more jobs will be created and less money will be spent.

Suicide touches many issues, it's a pretty sensitive topic for most people, and asking for them to be ok with a pro-choice forum, in the society we have, is like asking for them to accept suicide somehow, even if it's just as a possible path, and not a legalized thing. Abortion is still a controversial topic and it took decades for it to be legalized some places, while in others is still considered a crime, it's tabu, to the point where you can not even bring it up. I feel like suicide is seen the same way. It's like a forbidden word.

Plus. I might look like a bitch but... There is just so much going on, this does not seem like a priority as of now (to the government). I doubt they will give it any thoughts.

I'm sorry, but I believe you did not think this through, cause I see no way that your strategy could possibly work.
ps. I don't know about the USA, but some places SS is not found when searched on popular browsers (so that could justify your crusade to legalize the forum, if that's not already the case). But yes, I think that what I said goes both ways.

Understand that there are a few states which have euthanasia laws if you have less than six months to live.

It's going to be individual states that allow it and even one as liberal as California doesn't have it yet.

You literally have ZERO chance of having an impact in an election cycle. Likewise, you have ZERO chance of having generalized assisted suicide until there are more widely available physician assisted suicide in the terminally ill. Want to make a change? Start at your state level, as this will never happen nationally. With current laws, states can adopt euthanasia, and several have done so.

I think that OP meant assisted suicide, not sanctioned suicide.

I had watched something on youtube a couple years back. I don't think we will be ever seeing a legal assisted suicide - outside of those at end of life or or a devastating uncurable illness.

There are many ways it could be abused by others.

Financial gain- Auntie Hillary has dementia next of kin niece talks her weak mind into suicide inheriting all Auntie Hillarys rental homes. money etc.. Dads deep in debt and the only for his family to have a roof over their heads is play depressed and his life insurance saves the roof over his heads.

Government decides to stop funding nursing homes. Private pay is very expensive. Can't afford to stay you're booted. Government now also has a right to say Patient Xy is 65 years old. Patient Xy has no next of kin, with the cutoff of Government assistance Patient Xy does not have the financial ability to provide a stable, safe residence. I suggest for patients safety a legal injection will be performed tomorrow at 12:00.

It was a while ago I saw it and I come across it I'll share it. Since there so many ways it CAN and most likely WILL be abused they won't ever legalize it, fully anyway.
