I often wonder this. What's the point of life? Why are we here? Shouldn't there be some type of ultimate goal to work towards. It seems that we're all living for nothing like there's no point to life.
I think this everyday. Literally no point to life. We all die anyway and we can't take our memories with us, so what's the point!?

Yes. It's utterly meaningless and guess who think that's funny?

parents. The gatekeepers of a pointless existence drenched in pain, fear and misery.
You know what I'm going to do today, I'm going to create a human, they're going to do what I say, if they don't like it their an ungrateful piece of shit

I'd be satisfied with mostly enjoyable, although meaningless life, but I wouldn't be satisfied if some celestial being came before me and said that my sole purpose in life is to clean toilets, for example.

I think such questions are pondered upon when things get mostly unenjoyable. Like how a worker starts wondering about his paycheck when he feels underpaid.

Life is meaningful for those who can derive meaning.

Life is meaningless for those who can't.

I am more of the latter than I care to admit. It's why I am on this site a lot recently.

That's pointless too because human race will go extinct.

I look at it from a scientific perspective.

The 'goal' of most creatures is simply to survive to reproduce. Nothing more, nothing less. Humans are no different than any other animal.

The difference between us and other animals, is that we have developed a higher cognitive level with high amounts of self-awareness. Thousands of years ago, humans didn't have such a high life expectancy. It was an absolute necessity to survive and reproduce as soon and as much as possible. We had lower survival rates, and a lot more dangers to fear. But now, we have gotten to the point were we have not only prospered, but conquered the very earth itself.

So what is left? There's so many of us, and life rates are still at their highest no matter what health complications or accidents that are thrown our way. Illusions of self worth? The thought of what the average person does contributes to anything? However you may see it, there are BILLIONS of people living today. MILLIONS of babies born each day. As life expectancy rises higher and higher...the meaning of living lessens and lessens....
This is exactly how I see things too.
Yes, we may have cognitive functions and self-awareness / consciousness that isn't found in other mammals which can be seen as a gift or a curse. I guess for many of us here, we feel it is a curse as we've all landed on this forum for being too Human, so to speak.

I feel like we've come too far already but we're still reproducing at a dangerous rate and destroying our planet, the only home we've ever known. As mentioned, with the population increasing, our lives ultimately become less significant. We're all parasites on this planet and we're the tiniest little spec in comparison with the universe. None of this matters.

we just think we're special because that's what we have to tell ourselves from going insane. Otherwise society wouldn't exist...it's actually really crazy to think about how much we think of ourselves. Not you personally, but people in general.

I've been asking myself questions like this for years, it just pulls me closer towards death every time I think about it, it's so depressing.

There's no point in being alive, humans will be gone one day and all our atoms will form new stars. Who knows, maybe the universe itself will come to an end.
Some people react to nhilism by thinking 'oh nothing matters so I can do whatever I want', but it just makes me think lol okay might as well just die then :)

Promortalism then becomes your default.

Is this believing that death is a good thing?
I would rather say that life is a bad thing, which leads me towards antinatilism. While I'd gladly off myself, I wouldn't advocate for all humans to do it lol

There is no inherent meaning. We create our own meanings. But at the same time, all of this, "consciousness", is in itself purely mind noise. I think people just create up stuff as a coping mechanism and so that we don't get bored the time we're here. Even right now..trying to grasp it, trying to understand, is all ego. The human mind seeks control over everything.

It's the belief that since we die its best to get there asap.

The purpose is for humans to evolve into higher beings that transcend space and time itself. That is when we get to meet the creator, us, we are all one...just kidding, if there is any inherent meaning nobody alive knows what it truly is, only in death can that answer perhaps be answered, doubt it will be.

The 'you give your life purpose' line imo is a much weaker answer than belief in god, although those are the two most common answers you'll get if you did a street interview, other than nihilism of course.

I believe we create our meaning in life, beyond the obvious meaning of living to reproduce. Our fascinating ability to find various meanings in the same circumstance is part of what distinguishes us from other animals.

the simulation theory might just be true. Someone might be having fun observing us . Considering this theory to be true apart for that someone, living has no meaning for us.

We are just being played....

human evolution might not be the purpose but just levelling up the game....

Objectively nothing matter or has a point in the external universe, but the question is what matters to you and if you see a point in what you do and plan on doing.

Our mind are the master of choosing what matters or doesnt.

It is the lack of family structure that makes people go down that rabbithole.

You know who doesn't have to wonder about that? A couple who can produce science together, stargaze together, take nature trips together, eat together the mind-blowing food the wife lovingly and cheerfully spends hours making every day and who fuck and spoon to sleep.

And you know who destroys that? An idiot called my husband.

Yeah, things like honor and family values are dead today. Everyone would rather be good little consumerist drones and that's their life. Baby boomers are the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity.

You find/create your own meaning. If you don't/can't, well then life is meaningless
