I am convinced I do not, in fact, I do think quite a lot of people don't have any value, just as me.
I am a complete waste in this capitalistic world, since I have no job and wouldn't be surprised if I never will. why would anyone hire me? there is always going to be someone better than me, smarter, with more experience, with relatives that work there, and such. no entity in this world truly needs of me. if I was never born, the world would be the exact same in the big scheme of things. and that is a great reason why I think I shouldn't have been born. just another waste that gets this world closer to its end by consuming energy and making global warming more of a thing every day.

I don't even have value of taking care of someone who needs me because they are disabled for example. or be of usefulness for my family who has paid everything to me since I was born, things I do not deserve since I didn't put any work towards them like they did. I can't even bring myself to truly trust and like them, how despisable is that.

idk why there is someone who apparently loves me. I have absolutely no value compared to her, idk why she says she likes me.

anyways, you can share your points of view here.

idk. I want to do some helpful stuff before I die, but as of now my life has probably been a net negative for this world, and particularly for my family

How do we determine the value?

I have no job and wouldn't be surprised if I never will. why would anyone hire me? there is always going to be someone better than me, smarter, with more experience, with relatives that work there...
Is that how we determine value?

If so, the mythical absolute best person probably won't be able to work all jobs, so we will need the 2nd best, 3rd best person, and so on, too. They might not be in the location for the job, not know the required language, they might not be willing to work that job or be fulfilled by doing so, but someone else might be. Since they re the absolute best smartest at that job, they can pick whatever they want, everybody else has to settle for jobs of similar type.

Obviously I dislike that metric, but you can provide value in that sense if that's how you view things.

That said, look at the richest people, they are evil, manipulative and I'd argue they provide negative value. If you hoard tons of money they the world becomes your playground and people just agree to whatever you want because, well, they need money. That's not providing value, or at least not true actual value.

Well you say someone loves you in that case you have value(especially because I am assuming she is not family as I am assuming you have good relationship with your family too so they probably love you too) she will be really sad if you will be gone so yeah I would say you definitely have value
Because if being loved isn't having value then I don't know what is

If we look from aside, life itself is a result of determined processes that came across universe some time ago. So, it just happened. Is there objective value in rock or water or stars? And biological life, too, just exists.

But the other thing is subjective feeling. There are people, who love their life's. And it is determined by evolutionary process too, natural selection. People, who didn't like living just didn't got children in many cases, so it came that way.
As Richard Dawkins said, we are "machines for genes survival", people die, genes live. And these genes to adapt so they can live. Of course, there can be evolutionary bugs, because if people don't want to live it will not benefit their reproduction. But there are a lot of different aspects, that influence it, for example "memes" (the term was introduced by the same Dowkins in "Egoistic gen"). So...it is what it is.

I'm valuable to a few people (although I don't know to what extent), useless to my social environment because I don't contribute in any way, and valueless to myself.
The vast majority of people only have value in a very local sense, not only the users of this site.

I do not attribute my value from my job (or lack of rn) and I think that is a soul-sucking way to define one's value because as you said, in a huge population no one is truly 'unique' and it can understandably feel like people are just copies of each other. It can be particularly tiresome when other parties try to tell me to be unique (e.g. dating apps people say be unique! In a population of 600,000 people. Yeah, nothing anyone does is unique with that many people. Same for dating as a whole. Now that I'm disabled it is especially tiresome because as you said- there will always be someone better- how am I supposed to compete with that? In a population this large I can guarantee there are plenty of men with my personality / traits, but no physical health limitations that impact their daily life. So I just don't bother with dating. Sucks to not have someone in my life- but I maintain my peace of mind by not trying to find someone and deal with constant rejection as I have before).

I moved from a city of 600,000 people to one of 50,000 and I found it to be quite rewarding in that everyone actually felt like an individual to me, and I felt like my own person not just a copy among thousands. Although there were so few people in my age range that it became quite challenging to meet people. After 8 years I needed to move back to a large population to get good healthcare / doctors to diagnose health issues. There are benefits to large cities but having a unique identity (and thus feeling like you may have value in that society) is not one of them.

I definitely don't have any worth. That's been shown to me by every single person I've ever known. Either they treat me like shit or I occupy such a nonexistent spot in their life that they won't ever think of me.

I can say without a doubt that I can vanish for months on end, a few times even some years, without anyone even noticing. They all have my numbers and my social media accounts, they know my Adress, some even where I work.
Not one single person came by or wrote even one message during times when I disappeared.

When I then resurface and text first, they all pretend to have been worried. Which... Is a lie. They could have asked easily. If someone is even a little important to you, you ask, you leave a quick: "Hey, haven't heard of you in a while. You good?"

Nothing.

I can hold a job, but it burns me out more and more every day. And for what even? To pay for a roof and food. And that's it. It's not enough to really do much with it.
What little is left after rent and food I spend on games or psychedelics cause those are the only things that keep me somewhat from going insane.

It's also a job that doesn't require me specifically. I can literally be replaced within a day.

'Value' is subjective, being born in a time and place where you are bad at what the world deems valuable and important, you just got unlucky.

( insert shitty quote about how You're measuring your worth almost entirely through economic usefulness here) Idk i feel the same way. i guess the main thing stopping me from CTB is that i still find joy in watching movies and making art and shit. and even if theres a chance im activley harming humanity by existing and wasting resources and being unemployed. idk i just enjoy engaging in media. and like yeah i want CTB and hate everyone and wish we were all dead, but i also juss wanna like chill and read a fucking book. is it a bad thing to just exist and enjoy things without helping in anyway? or am i being selfish? idk how long this is gonna last for me tho, like probs another 3 months and then ill CTB. maybe we are just setting our expectations too high, maybe we should all fucking die.

idk if this has contributed anything to this conversation
stay chilly

No as existence is a mistake and this existence never should had been imposed in the first place, it's just so terrible how humans cause all this pain and suffering there was never a need for by imposing this dreadful, torturous existence, it'll always be so futile to suffer in this existence. This existence is an abomination that just tortures existing beings with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, all I want is to erase this existence so it's like I never suffered at all, I just want all to be gone, forgotten and erased for me in non-existence.

I also dislike that metric deep down, but it's just a thought that has been pushed to me by society. jobless people are always shamed, and specially where I live, young people who never made it to uni or even high school and instead pursued an informal job and made their life through that are always better seen than people like me.

that is a thing I don't bring any value myself, but as I said, it's not like anyone truly needs of me. if I was taking care of someone disabled, or helping communities out, making things that help people like open source software, I wouldn't think so badly of myself. but I have achieved none of them, not how I would like to at least.
It can be particularly tiresome when other parties try to tell me to be unique (e.g. dating apps people say be unique! In a population of 600,000 people. I went through the same thing and thought. but truth is that statistically there is very likely that there will be someone who actually likes you (if you are not a complete shit of person, and even those get love sometimes...).
but it's just very unlikely that you will meet that person, unfortunately.

but the person I mentioned who loves me, she is the world for me too. I know she has flaws, I don't care. she knows I have flaws, she doesn't care.
she even once said to me how there is always a better person for us, even someone better than me, but she didn't care, and I felt the complete same.

if I hadn't met her tho, I'd be in the same spot as you, before that I was lol, since I do not like people, and people do not like me. it's sadly about coming across the correct person at the correct time, which you can not completely control sadly.

I wish you the best of lucks in that regard.
