The modern world has given us interconnectivity in the form of the digital online world, other physical forms of media, radio/TV and the general ability to easily travel large distances (Cars, Planes, Bikes, Trains, Etc.). What this has done is given us great awareness. This awareness has taken away ignorance and in turn people have become overall less happy than before.

Before the marvels of technology connected us in so many different ways, you could only compare yourself to the locals of your village. This meant a greater percentage of the population could stand out and there was less extremes to compare yourself to if you didn't. Now no matter how talented you are, rich you are, beautiful you are, or whatever skillset and talent you have, you can quickly find an uncountable number of people that exceed you. Sure we can also see numerous people worst than us, but most only care about those that are better than us.

im like damn educated and all. ..., maybe i don't connect with my reality of lets go have big cars, big houses, kids to bog schools..., all i want to do is die..., but then you get to listen to this so good music......, you want to listen to it forever....., you know, nova, vnv....., whao. such good music. you don't wnt to miss it.

You don't think we could rewire the brain to make us happier or even eliminate suffering? I have no idea personally, but it seems plausible to me if our understanding of the brain reaches a high enough level.

I think it is a long shot. I dont think it could be even possible. Our minds dont exist in a vacuum. There has to be an echange between the mind and the enviroment in order to attain such state. We are not as isolated from the rest of the world and to each other as it may seem or we may think. It is essential to change reality outside of us to achieve higher degrees of happiness just as much as within ourselves. There are limitations though. Like some people are just too damaged to ever experience it and maybe that cant be helped. Same people who have some congenital defect or trauma in early childhood that make them unable to ever experience happiness.

Some of my friends/people that I know actually seem happy and with things coordinated. Therefore, I kinda think there's something in these people that's... different. They re genuinely happy.

Thats what I am saying. Happiness exists, maybe not as we imagine it to be but it is wrong to mix it up with pleasure/grafiticstion. While they are related they are not one and the same

I also think our brains are capable of generating infinite amounts of happiness and same for suffering and pain but have a cap that cant be exceeded due to our physical and enviromental limitations.

Happiness and pleasure are 2 separate things.

Pleasure is the instance that follows on satisfying a desire. Can be winning something (lottery, game etc.), acquiring a material posession (shopping spree) or achieving something (promotion, good grades orgasm, etc.)

i never met anybody who was genuinely happy with life..., me included. they all seem to be searching for something which they will never have.

I don't have any easy answers for you about the meaning of life or finding peace/satisfaction/happiness with your place in the world, as in my experience these are deeply personal and subjective questions. I also agree with @hotelbeneathground that due to the mechanics of brain chemistry, happiness is always a decaying state with a limited lifespan. In that sense, I think we are all the same.

If happiness is the only meaning that you get from life you will always be disappointed without some other reason you're alive, whether that's just to be with your friends and loved ones, help others, find meaning in your work, chasing money, or whatever else matters to you. In that sense I think we're all different in the things we find meaningful and valuable, and on top of that these can change with life experience.

i'm from africa. black african. have interacted with all sorts of people. from simple semi literate village africans, sophisticated highly educated europeans, damn rich dumb asians in africa, greedy african politician types, etc..., i know i may not sound genuine. in all that, i never met anybody who was genuinely happy with life..., me included. they all seem to be searching for something which they will never have. i have my sn.., it expires in 2025..., hopefully by then, i'll have made up my mind.....,, but then you get drunk...., and reality takes on a different meaning. like now listening to nova...shine your light on me....., then you think maybe you want to live tomorrow n listen to this music? shit. life is ....., strange....., you listen to nova n like you want to keep listening to it forever. whatever..., i'm rabbling.

Life is strange, isn't it? Our brain does such a good job at distracting us from the elephant in the room - like what the heck is even going on? What am I? Why am I here? I don't have any supernatural beliefs but it's hard to shake the feeling that there is some huge underlying truth about reality that we are missing. And a lot of times I feel like I shouldn't be here at all, like existence is some kind of weird accidental aberration in an eternity of nonexistence. I wish you luck in whatever path you choose to take, and that you experience as little suffering as possible for as long you are here.

I am happy not to be SOO depressed, but I also miss the false feeling of control that being suicidal gives. The definiteness of my time and way of death and time before It happens. It gave me a bit of peace knowing in the detail how will my future go, tho It was really stressful, and ever failed attempt was making me more anxious.
