I've recently moved into a new home, and for the first time in my life the stoves here are gas powered, not electric. Now, it would be easy and trivial to buy some plastic sheets and duct tape, and create an enclosed space that would slowly fill with natural gas - create an in closed space with the plastic wrap going around the stoves, and taping the other side around my neck, so that when I turn on the stoves the area would slowly inflate with the gas, depriving my body of oxygen.

The only problem with this I can think of is if it were to inflate too much it could pop a leak, which could be mitigated by cutting a small hole in the plastic I believe. The gas coming out of the stove would be much more than the oxygen coming in through the whole, and the pressure should be enough that instead of oxygen leaking in, some gas would simply leak out, which shouldn't be a big deal. Is this correct?

Also, what are the affects of natural gas inhalation? How painful is it? My only other concern is that if it were to cause significant enough pain or discomfort, my SI could cause me to rip open the bag, similar to the way my SI has caused me to stand up and undo the noose on hanging attempts.

Would my idea work as intended? And what would I feel when it happened?

Natural gas i think is basic co poisoning, I've heard cases of people in a tent having a small propane leak or gas stove, killing them, do your research. Also if you leave the gas on for long enough your house should fill with gas or kitchen, one match and the house is gone, I highly suggest not killing anyone in the process. Check your information, but natural gas can def kill

Natural gas that comes through gas pipes into the households is methane there is 0% CO gas! And there's 0% CO gas mixed with propane/butane camping gas. These gases themselves are not lethal at all however it can come to a point that there is not enough oxygen in the room/camping van any more and that leads to suffocation then. CO gas itself is poisonious because it binds 300x easier to the blood in the lunges than oxygen and cannot be exchanged like CO2 in the lungs.

I'll make sure that no one's home when I do this

They may not be poisonous but if they replace all the oxygen they should still result in death. Are there any side affects of methane inhalation?

Methane isn't lethal at all and you risk an explosion as well! I suggest you have a look into the CO method which is way better and lethal. And there's hardly any disturbing SI with the CO Method.

I'll check that out but I'm broke right now with no job, and I'd have to buy charcoal while the gas stove is free

lump wood charcoal is fairly inexpensive. 2.5kg will cost you as little as £5.

I don't have a car so I'd need to buy a tent too
You can do it in your bathroom which is usually one of the smallest rooms in a flat.

for reference: i'm in the UK, and managed to find a suitable tent from Argos for £25. of course, tents are usually expensive - but with enough research, you can dig up some good deals.

this is always an option - but you risk damaging the health of anybody else inside the house. a CO warning sign would be advised if carrying out this method inside.

Although most of us may be here to finally quit we are all here to learn as well! And this is great!
