People were being jerks or oddly defensive in a thread where someone was venting about racism, which went the usual route of just devolving into people freaking out about censorship rather than the issue at hand, hence the frustration I think

The situation in some places is not great and people are getting hurt. While the brunt of state violence here is aimed at black and brown people, white people especially those with mental illnesses are also getting shot up and ironically the black lives matter activists have done more for them than their own "kind" which is actually really sad

I posted the screenshot here but I deleted it cause Mods were dealing with it anyway so figured I probably should. They used lots of incredibly offensive slurs which I won't repeat. I'd not had any recent interaction with them so it was very strange...

The term racism is subjective one person might see something as racist where by another person might not. Depends where they are on the political spectrum.
Think people have got a right to be angry about not being able to go anywhere without fear of being stabbed or blown up. Everyone is looking over their shoulder now wondering what is going happen next.
