Discussion Anyone else hate fathers day?

Every year when it comes around, I can't stand seeing the ads of happy families together. I hate going into stores to see "happy fathers day" cards displayed at the front. I hate the blue and white color scheme. I hate it so much that I asked my manager if I could work an open close that day to avoid being home.

Growing up in an abusive environment ruined every holiday for me, especially fathers day since my dad hates me. He treats my family horribly but tells everyone that it's the other way around. Now I'm getting calls from my grandma telling me to buy him lunch on his special day. I'm depressed, suicidal, and in debt because of him! Why does society still expect me to buy him food and gifts!?

I'm not grateful for him. There's nothing to celebrate. In fact, I wish he didn't exist so I wouldn't either. Does anyone else relate? I hate fathers day soooo much ahhhh

I don't hate father's day but my dad definitely wasn't a great guy. He passed away 2 years ago and my family are much happier and are at peace for it.

There's just no more eggshells around the house now. No more crunching while walking around for my mom.

I hate Father's Day for the complete opposite reasons. I genuinely can't ask for a better father, he supports me through my bs, buys me shit, takes me to vacations and more despite how shitty i am. Sometimes I wish my parents would ditch me somewhere and forget about me.

I do not like or dislike Father's Day, however, I never ever had a real father, so I can never make a good judgement on the pros or cons of Father's Day.

Like I have mentioned billions of times, when I was born, I was a male and NOT a female child. Both "parents" did not want me and wanted to let the hospital have me and be done with me. However, the social norms back in 1956 would have made the both of them pariahs in the community, so I went home with them and endured 18 years of hell till they kicked me out the day after I turned 18.

Till the end of time, I will never understand the "want" of "needing" a child just so that some and I know it is a small fraction mistreat the offspring.

This site is a 365-day family day site, so be it Mother's or Father's Day so what and no big deal.

for real neither holiday should be a thing (I like my mom though so I have less of a problem with mothers day). Those days make it awkward for people with bad parental relationships. Ik most of the world have great parents they want to celebrate but it still sucks for those like us

Wow some "parents" they are...but I envy your neutral view of them. It must be more peaceful opposed to hating them. My hatred is the main reason why I stress so much about holidays

I barely had a real father and my step father is a perverted dick. So not a fan of fathers day.

I don't feel anything on Father's day. Mine was abusive and I hated him. Sometimes I'm jealous of people with nicer relationships with their parents, but I don't think about it often.

My mom is still alive. On Mother's day, I cook for her. I don't hate her or the holiday, but our relationship is pretty shallow. I mostly maintain it for financial favors and the inheritance.
