What kind of gun were you planning to use? It always worries me if someone plans to ctb with a handgun, because there is a much greater chance of injuring yourself badly and not dying. A shotgun or rifle is probably more reliable. It's also very important that you know precisely where to aim.

No need to apologize to anyone for not killing yourself. This isn't a race, there's no one holding a trophy at the finish line.

If you ever question your motivations at any point then the best course of action is to give yourself some time to think over that questioning you are doing. There's no easy answer but there's also no absolute right or wrong here. There's just life in between.

If you're feeling like you need someone to talk to we're here for you. Not to solve your problems or to give you answers but to just let you talk things out with yourself. There's no weakness here in my mind only confusion and confusion isn't anything to be ashamed or embarrassed about. You do whatever you need to do to. Spend as much time as you need in between.

I was using 9mm hollow points. And I knew had to aim slightly upward in the mouth. Would that have been enough? As for how I got to this point, my life has just been nothing but depression and emptiness for too long.

It's not easy. It's not a race. I know I'm not ready either.
May the experience guide you in some way. It could be just the fear or some other things you could try and resolve.
No rush! You're facing a possibly eternal unknown. It's the most momentous thing any of us can face and you are staring it down. You are more courageous than many humans by looking that inevitability in the eyes now, instead of blanketing yourself in distractions till the last moment of despair that will spring itself unto all the 'mentally healthy' humans despite their denialism.
There's a comfort in knowing you've got at least one option, and you can work on securing more.
