This is taking too long…

When I was growing up I loved "Hero" type movies. I felt they wanted to give people hope that as long as you were strong , kept your head up, and kept pushing forward no matter what happened then I'd get through it and come out the other side better then I was. Problem is they never tell you that there is no guarantee you'll come out the other side in the first place.
My all time favorite movie was "Constantine" with Keanu Reeves. Growing up around my religious moms side of the family made me believe there was heaven and hell. God and the Devil. That there were things on this planet meant to utterly torment us. That movie made me feel that I could fight those things and win. Just like with the hero's movie. Combine that with raising a kid on "do better to others then you do for yourself." Gives you the idea eventually you'll get it back by someone who believes the same.
What movies shaped who you are today?
