It's actually not the state that decided to tell everyone to distance. it is a thing they reluctantly have to do because if people don't do it, the virus will spread and kill a lot more vulnerable people. We are already overwhelming hospitals because so many people didn't follow the quarantine rules so now we have to do it even longer. I'm sure the politicians don't want to do this either -- they have to suffer through it, too. This is just a fact of epidemiology. If you CTB it will be because the situation in the world right now fucking sucks, and it's nobody's fault, it just sucks. It's just biology. Don't mistake this for a pro-life response. I'm still very much in favor of the right to CTB for whatever reason you want. I would just correct your logic a bit and say that the state doesn't like this any more than we do -- governments are made of people. Blame coronavirus.

It's still shitty. it's still really awful that we've all been cut off from resources that can help us.

To get the thread back in line with its title, how do you think my governor or state legislature would react, if they got a letter saying someone CTB'ed because of their rulings? Would they feel any guilt or sympathy at all, or would they just snicker and go attend a party with their politician friends?

hey op...i think if you walk in the shoes of alot of members here then it might put your reasons to ctb into perspective. now im not invaliding your feeling of wanting to ctb. im just saying there are people on this forum who has thought about ctb before covid19 existed. i know people here with terminal illnesses, mental illnesses, death of loved ones etc. just know that you will be able to enjoy the company of your friends and families in the near future. things wont go back to normal but it will be better than it is right now. economy cannot afford to continue this locked down for very long. there are already protest across the country. just be patient for a little while. i hate for you to ctb because of social distancing.

You just told me that things won't go back to normal. And what's sad is that my state government will deliberately keep it from going back to normal. It could be 2022 or 2023 until things get back to how I remember them. That's too damn long! I don't have the patience for that much time. By itself, social distancing is bad enough. But I keep getting slapped in the face day in and day out, by those preachy "stay home" messages.

On a more reassuring note, I still got months to go before I get all my ducks in a row. I don't even know the first thing about that sodium nitrite everyone here talks about. If I can at least go hiking with my friends in a park by June, without looking over my shoulder for the police, then the bus can wait. But if I'll have to social distance for years like Fauci and Birx say I'll have to, then where's that stinking bus already? I just gotta write and send that letter first, even if just for shock value.

Or perhaps the only bus I should be catching is the Greyhound. To a state like Georgia or Florida. (Texas is reopening too, but it's too right-wing for me.)

Well, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just use dark humor a lot, like in my Greyhound comment; it's how I cope. And social distancing is a big thing for me that totally ruined my social life, otherwise I wouldn't be on this site.

I think they would ignore you. They are too busy. It would have no impact at all. Washington DC people are very cold and unfeeling because they deal with having to please millions of people everyday and it's an impossible task. So they shut their emotions off. Find videos of John Stewart talking about this when he tried to go to DC to advocate for victims of 9/11.

I mentioned in this post (https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/why-do-you-want-to-ctb.32388/page-2#post-693301) that I want to CTB because of my state's social distancing rules, as well as CDC's federal social distancing rules. Even the phrase "social distancing" alone makes me want to CTB, since I know my state will try to prolong it as much as it can. Which explains my username, and makes the "stay home, it saves lives" meme highly ironic.

Before Corona broke out, I had a very active social life. I was out hanging out with people every weekend, and a few weeknights too. I always enjoyed it, even though some of those social connections were on the superficial side. That's where deep down inside, I realize that some of those people might not care that I CTB'ed, besides the usual mainstream pro-lifer reaction.

Anyway... what would happen if I wrote a letter to my ruling politician that I CTB'ed because of their social distancing orders? Like my state or US representative, my senator, my governor, or CDC's upper management. He, in fact, my governor's social distancing orders was what drove me to this site. What would happen if I wrote one or more of those politicians an angry but formally-worded letter that pretty much says: "hey, I CTB'ed because of you"?

I'm pretty sure they'd just snicker and toss my letter in the garbage, before sitting down to a group dinner with their colleagues. But what if they actually react?

Don't try to convince this person of this. I can tell they are in a lot of pain and it's not the time. I tried to explain this earlier but they do not trust authoritative information and since this isn't a political thread it is not worth it.

The flu comes in every winter, and nobody does any involuntary social distancing over it. The only reason we have social distancing is because the government got involved for all the wrong reasons, and the CDC is in on the lie. I'm giving my state until late May to repeal social distancing laws. If I can't get back to socializing like before by Memorial Day, I'll start looking for ways to get on a bus ASAP. As for the letter, perhaps I'm better off sending to a news company, rather than my state legislature.

Dude okay sorry I wasn't going to get into this but you do not know what you're talking about. "Corona is a variant of a flu! " --- that is absolutely false. They are in completely different virus families. Flu is "Orthomyxoviridae " and coronavirus is "Coronaviridae" They have very different genetics. One is not a variant of the other. Coronavirus has no known effective treatments although a few are in clinical trials. There is no vaccine. Flu has treatments that at least do something, and there is a flu shot. It has completely different dynamics, too. Different incubation period, different infective dose, etc. Please stop reading whatever sites you are reading that give you incorrect information. If you want to kill yourself over something, at least do it with the correct information.

Ugh...I am sorry. I don't want this to be a political thread. I tried to make it not about politics in my reply...just virology. A lot of this is really basic, objective, unbiased biology. There shouldn't be a political factor to it, yet there is, and it's making people want to kill themselves. I'm not okay with this. If you're gonna kill yourself, make the decision based on reality. That's all. I'm pro choice, not pro suicide. Misinformation is a terrible reason to die.

All because of the government's overreaction to something that's basically a flu! It's not the same thing, but it's similar enough, like dogs and wolves. That's a perfectly good reason to CTB.

Basically, a world where in-person socializing is the new CTB or snorting cocaine. It's something people can technically do, but it takes so much effort to pull off, so relentlessly pursued by the police and the mainstream media, and so highly stigmatized, that's it's not worth doing. Underground gatherings are occasionally held in a local Walmart, but are promptly reported by busybodies and busted by the police. So most people don't bother socializing in person, even with immediate family. They live lonely, isolated lives for years on end, until they die of natural causes. Their families attend their funeral via Zoom only.

You basically asked about using your ctb as a political statement and asked how politicians would handle it.

Making political statements via or along with suicides is not a new concept. I think the issue is what others will do with it. Just as the media does not accurately report news, or puts a spin on it, politicians may do the same. You may be seen as just another whatever-name-someone-wants-to-call-you, it could take thousands of such letters to get anyone to listen, and even then they might not.

I would say, do it for you. If you speak your heart or your conscience, you may not be heard, or it may be used for others' purposes, but you will have acted on your own conscience.

I'm more upset and angered how everybody and their brother are freaking out over a banal flu bug. They're acting like a virus that's no more dangerous than the flu is the world's deadliest thing that kills you on contact. I'd lick an elevator button if that were true. But it's not! I keep hearing on the news about all those people dying from Corona, and I feel left out, which makes me doubt if those deaths are even true.

That's mainly why I want to CTB. Our country turned into a complete shitshow, and my life will never be the same, just because the wrong people want to win the 2020 election. Like my signature says, I'd rather swim in a lake of fire for all eternity---if Hell even exists---than live an isolated life until I keel over from old age.
