I just don't think all of the challenges and painful aspects are socially-informed. Even if they were it wouldn't matter because society wouldn't change to completely negate them.

I agree. Society wont change by choice. It would require an overthrow of the class society we live under and the many prejudices, ableism and chauvinistic ideas it feeds into. Resources would then have to be devoted to creating a society that can enable anyone to become the best versions of themselves, to become well-educated, thrive and to be appreciated for who they are, to have their place, regardless of their underlying conditions. Essentially a Socialist Society where the political and economic fabric of society is democratically owned and controlled by the people to serve the common good without any form of prejudice or bigotry, and where significant resources are devoted to services that enable everyone opportunities to thrive. We absolutely don't have that at the moment (as much as society would pretend to "care" about neurodivergent and disabled people), but I think striving towards those goals is really important, even though things are utterly hopeless in the current society.
