I made an account here on SS to look for a way to CTB. Didn't expect to start thinking about recovery or to make some good friends that I plan on meeting up with some day.

I would, but it would have to be after speaking with them for a long period of time and getting to know them really well. I'm disabled and a very nervous person, so mobility is difficult for me and I have a hard time trusting that people actually want to hang out with me with how sick I am due to past experiences. I'm very isolated so I would love to make more friends. :')

I used to meet people all the time off the internet , i`d travel all over the country or they would come to mine but that was for a totally different reason , one girl came for the weekend and stayed for 10 days and i must admit i really didnt want her to go .
Another came and stayed for 3 years ! then suddenly disappeared one day lol , said she was going to Asda and did i want anything particular for Tea and never came back , she rang me over a year later and asked if she could come and see me , i told her where to go.
ive mellowed in my old age though now and cant be bothered so just have two friends with benefits now .

If the other person is interested in literature, art, and philosophy I'll probably have coffee with them or take a distanced walk. I may have friends that enjoy listening to me talk about these interests but they don't pursue or study that much themselves. Having someone who takes those things seriously, with their own experience would be really enjoyable for conversation. Also talking about the nature of suicide and death would be something I'd like to have with some people as none of the friends I have can speak about those things, which is understandable as some in my friend circle have ctb. The only person I spoke to about suicide on a high level and personal one ctb.

Depends on a couple things I guess. I've met people off the internet before, my ex husband I met in an online game and I flew to another country to meet him, we were together for 5 years. There are risks with meeting anyone online, be if from here or places like Tinder, you have to know and understand the risks. If I did meet someone, I'd make sure it was in a public place, tell someone where I'm going and how long I'm expected to be, have my phone with me etc. I doubt I ever would meet anyone from here though, people are more private on this forum than on other places and hiding your identity is a huge thing.

Hmm, I don't know. Maybe not, because anonymity has its charm. Online friendships are OK too, imo, because there's not as much pressure as irl. Sure, you don't get the physical closeness and the nonverbal language you have irl, but you can surely have pretty awesome conversations with people from all over the world.
