Given that it's nighttime/early morning and you're streaming something/talking/in the middle of doing something with someone, would it annoy you or offend you if they constantly keep falling asleep in the middle of doing x activity?

No.

My meds used to make me fall asleep on my laptop mid-messaging people. It's been years since that happened but it used to be a regular thing.

But what if it's repeated? Wouldn't it be justified if someone got mad at me for always sleeping in the middle of watching a show/playing a game? I just don't know anymore.
I think context matters a lot. I can understand someone getting upset if you're falling asleep many times when you're doing something together because they might feel like you aren't interested enough in their company to stay awake but it's also sweet that you would feel comfortable enough with them to fall asleep.

Is this in person? In vc? Is it happening at night or earlier in the day? Are you getting enough sleep at night but still tired? Is this the only time you're spending with said person during the day?

If it's happening at night and you are somebody who watches tv or youtube to fall asleep it's pretty understandable and maybe not something you can really do anything about.

Just reread your post and saw you mentioned at night. I think it's kinda unavoidable and other person needs to be understanding that sleep is a need.

Probably not. I'd more likely feel sorry for how exhausted they must be.

There again, I've spoken to people in real life who literally just close their eyes. Assure me they're not asleep- just resting their eyes before they do of course- fall asleep.

That felt more like they just weren't interested. I wouldn't necessarily feel angry with them though. It would simply make me re-evaluate my relationship with them. In as much as- they obviously find me boring. They're not interested or invested in me or my life so- I shouldn't expect them to be in future.

This isn't a one off either- I think that's kind of important too. This person often goes kind of glassy eyed looking or, will suddenly start talking about something else mid conversation so- it's obvious they're not interested enough to pay attention. So, again- I likely wouldn't be angry but, I'd see our relationship as being flakey.

Often, people who fall asleep while with you shows that they feel comfortable around you; that you feel safe.

I really wouldn't be offended if I were you.

I'm trying my best to stay awake, but it feels like the moment I relax I just end up sleeping without realizing it....Previously, it got to a point where I'd get panic attacks whenever I wake up from passing out in fear someone would be upset about it. Why do I have such a hard time admitting/realizing I'm tired or about to sleep? It's just so hard, and it's not helping that doing that pretty much ends up ruining my whole day too..

for me, if someone falls asleep or otherwise goes idle in a chat, I'd wait a bit then probably do smth else... if replies happen every 10 or so seconds, I'd wait 30s, then switch tabs... sound pings will bring me back if they return within a few mins to an hour or so... or I'd close the tab if I'm done with the chat.

It's slightly annoying when a tab is left open and a person shows up as online for hours, even tho they haven't replied to dozens of messages that the rest of chat is replying to... are they asleep, did they leave their tab open but autoplay failed, did they walk away from the PC, etc? one can only wonder, and maybe ask them later (all of the above has happened to me, tho the other ppl apologise, and it's more or less occasional... but autoplay being unreliable doesn't help)

It depends on if you stated ahead of time that you are willing to do an activity with them. For example, if I had a friend that was like "Yeah, I will play a game with you at x time" and then kept falling asleep on me I would be annoyed that they kept saying yes. If it is an inconvenient time for my friend, which is totally fine, I would just prefer they say no instead of saying yes and falling asleep.

If it is more like "hey, I saw you were on so I am just going to chill with you" then falling asleep is totally normal. I have friends from all over the world so our sleep schedules are all wonky compared to one another. We constantly fall asleep during each other's streams and it is no big deal.

I'm trying my best to stay awake, but it feels like the moment I relax I just end up sleeping without realizing it....Previously, it got to a point where I'd get panic attacks whenever I wake up from passing out in fear someone would be upset about it. This sounds like you are ruining your sleep schedule for this person which you should never do. It sucks that your schedules do not overlap but sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your mental and physical health (coming from an insomniac) so I would suggest you tell your friend you need to sleep instead of trying to force yourself to stay awake.

I have chronic fatigue, so if someone is pissed at me falling asleep they better get over it fast 🙄 Protect your peace. Unless they're offering to pay you for all the coffee you'd have to buy, fuck em

i used to read to someone nightly and they warned me they might fall asleep and i didn't mind at all as long as i got to hear them snoring đź’— everyone needs sleep so you can't be too upset. like someone else said, i would be happy they feel comfortable enough to fall asleep with you. i've messed my sleep schedule up so much to talk to people too. sleep should be prioritized though.
