historically, poisoning was the most common method for female suicides through mid‑2010s.
by 2020, firearms surpassed poisoning to become the leading method, followed by suffocation, and then poisoning. Poisoning had been the most common method for women up until around 2015.
But since around 2020, firearms became the leading method, with suffocation overtaking poisoning for second place, and poisoning falling to third and yes men commit more with firearms but I'm trying trying to point out the drastic switch for women's methods because I feel like that says something!
Though then again suicide statistics aren't relatively all that reliable entirely obviously.
Hm, I wonder why that is? Maybe it's just that you can easily figure out online these days that downing a bottle of pills isn't going to kill you? I wonder if gun ownership has gone up in recent years...

It has gone up quite drastically, lemme find it, and yea I think people are getting the idea that dying of drugs ain't gonna cut it and I think it also has to do with changing gender dynamics in a way.
In 2020, women made up an estimated 40% of all first-time gun purchasers in the U.S. .

From January 2019 to April 2021, approximately 3.5 million women became new gun owners—almost half of all first-time buyers during that period .

Although that share dipped slightly in 2021, women still accounted for over 33% of new gun buyers that year.
women were historically underrepresented in firearm ownership. For example:

In 2024, about 25% of U.S. women owned a gun, compared to ~40% of men .

But when it comes to new purchasers, women have accounted for up to half of them in recent years .

They now make up roughly one-third to nearly half of first-time buyers, especially in 2020 when their share peaked.

Female gun ownership overall remains lower than men's—but the pace of growth among women is disproportionately high.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) reported 40% in 2020 and just over 33% in 2021 were women.

"Women comprised 40 percent of first‑time gun purchasers" in 2020, and among new gun owners from 2019–2021, "approximately half were women" .

In 2024, approximately 25% of American women (about 42 million) personally owned a firearm .

Men reported a higher rate at about 40%, showing the gender ownership gap persists, but has narrowed over time .

National averages from Pew and Gallup surveys indicate that overall, about one in three adults (32–33%) own a gun —consistent with the 25% female rate and 40% male rate.

While no full nationwide 2025 survey yet,

Trends from 2023–2024 show steady incremental increases among women.

Moreover, new gun ownership surged during 2020–2023, then modestly tapered into 2024

"The rate of gun ownership among women in America is rising…" bolstered women only clubs and a broader cultural shift.

I don't know how to react I don't fully support it or at least the stereotype about "studs" how so many men hate them and how I can't even speak on it at all even though it was brought up, not trying to argue but come up with a logical reason for the way stereotypes say they act, I just don't like how lesbians are so hated on not the feminine ones because men like those ones but the ones who don't fit stereotypical feminine confines, Always saying shit like "these studs like to act like there tough" all that looks like and feels like to me is a way to again assert dominance,,,

My partner and his brother are over and now there talking about cars and "oh IKEA that's a womenly car" "yea no I wouldn't be seen in that"
Like what the actual fuck,, and god please anyone does anyone experience men at times turning objects into women like cars and in game weapons and tools, it's fucked! But what does my opinion mean, nothing.
Lots of dudes get really uncomfortable if a woman threatens their fragile little masculinity or don't the share sexual attraction he feels towards the woman. I'm not a 'stud' or even a lesbian myself, but I am fairly gender non conforming and it's really obvious they see the masculinity i show as the rejected scraps of what they have. masculinity is perceived as something that must be earned and defended against perceived threats, and so they get all defensive over what is IMO arbitrary.

Do periods just take away authenticity to ones emotions from others because it fucking seems like it, and it always has, and I try very hard to not have to actually say "I'm on my period" an even then I won't say that I'd say "the red River runs" or "I bleed"

Wild random info! ⤵️

Lysol was historically marketed to women as a vaginal douche, particularly from the 1920s through the 1960s.
These advertisements often used euphemistic language, referring to "feminine hygiene" to imply its use as a contraceptive, especially during periods when birth control was illegal in the United States and Canada. The marketing campaigns capitalized on societal anxieties about cleanliness and marital discord, suggesting that proper "feminine hygiene" (i.e., douching with Lysol) would prevent issues and maintain a woman's desirability.
However, it's crucial to understand that Lysol, with its original formula containing cresol, was highly caustic and dangerous for this purpose. It led to numerous poisonings, severe irritation, burns, and even deaths. Despite being marketed as safe and effective, it was both harmful and ineffective as a contraceptive.

Summary

Yes, women died or were severely harmed from using Lysol as a vaginal douche in the early 20th century.

No, there were no major lawsuits or legal reckoning at the time.
There are no prominent public records of class-action or individual lawsuits that reached trial or received widespread coverage specifically related to death or injury from Lysol as a douche. However:

Some individual injury claims may have been quietly settled, but these were not publicized or led to any landmark rulings.

In some rare cases, deaths were reported in medical journals, such as:
Cresol poisoning
Septic shock
Chemical burns or perforated uterus
But again, these deaths were often treated as medical accidents or personal tragedies, not corporate liability.
Although women died or suffered serious harm from using Lysol internally, the legal system offered no formal reckoning.

Cases were handled medically or quietly settled (if settled at all), not taken to court as corporate liability.

The overwhelming silence reflects how women's reproductive health was marginalized, and how public discourse and law excluded many victims.

The truth was buried under shame, silence, and corporate evasion — a tragic example of how women's health was historically neglected and
Exploited.

Most of the evidence about Lysol's deadly use comes from:
Medical journals
Historians and feminist scholars
Health policy researchers, not legal filings
Notable sources include:
Andrea Tone's book: "Devices and Desires: A History of Contraceptives in America"
The Smithsonian, Journal of American History, and Our Bodies, Ourselves.

And What changed?
It wasn't lawsuits — it was public health reform and regulation:
The 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act gave the FDA more authority to regulate drugs and cosmetics after a 1937 medicine scandal killed 100+ people.
Over time, medical understanding grew, and doctors began warning against douching.
By the 1960s–70s, with the rise of second-wave feminism and women's health advocacy, public scrutiny grew — and companies quietly pulled the old "disinfectant douching" ads.

What a world ⤵️

Global Overview

75–85% of acid attack victims are women and girls, per Acid Survivors Trust International and literature reviews across 13 countries .

These attacks are often gender-based violence focused on women in contexts like rejected marriage proposals, dowry disputes, and domestic abuse.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

UK acid attacks differ sharply: most victims (60–70%) are men, often attacked in gang-related or criminal violence

Data from 2023 shows:

Out of 1,244 recorded corrosive substance offences, ~50% were women, and ~59% for threats specifically .

Earlier years (2011–2016) reported 62% male victims and 38% female victims in England.

Other Regions

South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan)
Women account for 80–90% of victims, often attacked by men known to them over personal disputes or gender violence .

Africa (Nigeria, Uganda, Cambodia)
Some countries show either gender parity or even more male victims:
Uganda: approximately 57% female, 43% male .
Nigeria: around 60% male victims .
Cambodia: cases often evenly split between males and females.

📊 Summary Table: Victim Gender by Region
Region% Women VictimsNotes
Global average75–85%Driven by gender-based violence in South Asia
South Asia~80–90%Motivated by rejection, dowry disputes, etc.
UK~30–40%Majority male victims from gang/criminal violence
Africa (varies)~40–57%Some regions see more balanced or male-skewed victim rates
Cambodia~50%Case reports show gender parity in victims.

Globally, women remain the majority of acid attack victims, especially where violence is gender-driven.

In contrast, UK and some African nations see more acid attacks involving male victims, often linked to criminal or gang-related violence—not gendered motives.

The UK trend is shifting: recent data points to increasing attacks on women, though males remain a plurality.

So I was playing mordhau and this happens occasionally when I join the game but it felt like it was happening more today the third game I joined as soon as I did came up to me before the round even started and btw we are a team!! And they just started spam hitting me thankfully they couldn't kill me since we weren't in a full public game but even when I joined a public game Wich I don't do often my one of my teammates this one fucked kept emoting and killing me and we are on a teammm!! At some point I started to try to kill him back and guess what he voted for me to get kicked from the game! I even tried to say sorry before even fighting back but idk why I'm saying sorry, like sorry for playing a female character? Idk sorry my user name has miss in it? Idk idk! But I'm the other match where they just kept hitting me but couldn't kill me there was literally three of them and I was just saying hello to my brother and partner in the game and these three other people just had me in a stun lock until they started getting attacked by the NPCs were supposed to kill. Anyway I'm really bad with confrontation and I feel terrible playing games already especially ones that have a dominant male user base and that's basically every game,, I don't think I'm bad but as soon as I mess up once I do,, and I was really starting to have a decent time I love saying hello to other players and trying to be helpful.. but I wasn't even giving the chance by these people, I felt so idk wrong for being there after they stopped so I left the game and my brother and partner where still in the game but I really felt like a loser.

Random info.⤵️

Hormonal birth control was originally tested on Puerto Rican women without their full informed consent. Many suffered serious side effects or died. But the trials went on. Why? Because their pain was seen as acceptable in service of "progress."

The first large-scale human trial of the birth control pill was unethically conducted by Gregory Pincus and John Rock in 1955 in Puerto Rico. Before the drug was approved as safe in the mainland U.S., many poor and uneducated Puerto Rican women were used as guinea pigs by Gregory and John.

Eugenics and unethical clinical trials are part of the contraceptive pill's legacy. It came in a brown bottle, marketed as a safe way for married women to treat menstrual disorders.

You weren't the one who was wrong for being there, I know the feeling but just know it definitely wasn't you who was in the wrong!! A lot of games have a user base of men that behave toxically and just make the experience terrible for any woman (or anyone they perceive as a woman, if your avatar or username isn't obviously male, etc).

I would game a lot more for the social connection, but it gets exhausting having to vet every single group before you even try playing the game. There are definitely great spaces with people that are fun to be around, but sometimes it's searching for a needle in a haystack. I usually don't have the energy for that. But yeah, you didn't do anything wrong here, they were the ones creating problems instead of just playing the game!

I've been reading no longer human and it's odd,, or natural,, how I poorly I perceive myself,, all the ways Osamu dazi talks about women is the way Ill talk about myself to myself, even if I don't do many of the things he claims these women do,, mabye I do,, but in a self hating sick way i relate to his hatred,, I hate myself even more for feeling that way, I don't want to hate what am but I do.

I think it was a joke but my partner said it so casually,,
"when the governments decided to fool women into working jobs, now there's no exempted tax loopholes from having a wife"
And he said that as I was watching the Netflix trailer for cable girls, I didn't pick it I was just going through my recommended,
And he says that less then six seconds into even watching the trailer I didn't even put the trailer specifically on,
you know how you can start the trailer with clicking on the show well that's what happened, either way I found that sad to hear,,
he loves history and being knowledgeable about random things, I find them fascinating and even if I somehow don't I still take the time to listen and try and understand, because I see how much it intrigues them and or just peaks there interest, so when I tried showing him a ted talk yesterday he just walked away I didn't shove it in his face I just put the video on as if for myself and periodically said shit trying to casually get a reply from him but after three or four minutes he walked away and shut the door to the room,,
I Hear shit like this everyday, it just varies on the bluntness of it at times but I really don't see that being any easier, for me it isn't at least.

Can we make a private chat for women and enby folks? Rather than a thread?
Please do. I dont know where else I can talk about narcissistic abuse, and I feel so lost on so many things specially with respect to inexperienced things in life due to sheltered life

Id like to keep this thread just so jerks can look through it wether they actually hear anything anyone is saying or not just at least knowing it's accessable I like,, but it'd be allot more comfortable to have access to a private chat aswell as a public thread.
