Hi everyone,

I need some advice on a hanging setup. I want to make sure this method works 100% because I don't want to end up in a vegetative state.

Here are the details of what I have:
  • My current rope (attached file): 8mm (approx. 5/16") diameter, 15 meters (approx. 50 ft) long, polypropylene (diamond braid rope).
Rope
  • Manufacturer weight limit: 33 kg (approx. 73 lbs) working load.
  • My weight: 70 - 80 kg (155 - 175 lbs) to have a safety cushion.
  • The hanging distance: Around 1 to 2 meters (approx. 3.3 to 6.5 ft) to have a safety cushion
My Plan: I plan to fold the rope into 3 parallel lines so they share the weight. This feels much more comfortable and distributes the pressure better than a single line. To secure it, I'll use a Triple Figure of Eight Loop Knot (like this one: How To Tie A Triple Figure Of Eight Loop Knot).

My Question: Do you think this setup will work? I'm going to test it beforehand. If this isn't safe enough, I'm open to buying a thicker rope (I read 12mm might be better).

Once the rope is confirmed: My plan is to get on a bench, push myself up, and wait. What medications/methods do you recommend taking beforehand to minimize pain? I will be alone at home.

Thank you all in advance for reading this!

I have a similar rope.
What will be your anchor point? Because to full hanging, the anchor point is the main issue.
The ideal thing is, after you made the anchor point knot, and the noose knot (The one on your body), to try it outside of it (E.g with one hand and push it) and see if the anchor point and the rope stay safe.
If both the anchor point and the rope resist, it could resist your full weight.
And... stay alone, at least 30 minutes. In theory, unconsiousness could be achieve between 10-30 seconds. The time remaining is to avoid getting rescued.
Good luck and I hope you find peace.
