much worse than post 9/11. much, much worse. but on the bright side, we won't have to deal with other people nearly as much, since we'll all have to stand so far apart. i see this as a win.

What do you do when people need to go to hospital? Turn then away? If we let the virus run rampant through the population then all of the hospitals would be full.

And do you really think that things would just go on as normal with all of these people dropping dead every day? Nobody would go to the theatre, or to the pub. And so they would all be going out of business anyway. The economy would have been utterly destroyed. The problems that come with prevention are absolutely not worse than the virus itself.
Sure, it would be hard, but it would lead the world to better times, while now it is hard and will not be beneficial, instead everything will continue like normal when Corona is under contol and the people will continue making babies like rabbits, overpopulating the planet even more and making it even harder for humanity to get climate change under control.
Besides that, if people would still isolate at home even without lockdown, then there would be no need for a lockdown in the first place.

It has around a 1% death rate for the average person who's not dying at an increased rate basically from something else or is old. This is ridiculous and ruining many people's (who are healthy and younger) lives.
People die from old age, heart attacks/disease, and other respiratory diseases every day. These people are also often struggling with another ailment. Why are we obsessed with keeping every single person on this planet alive while adding to it at an obnoxious rate?
People die. I know 3 people who had died from Covid. I don't blame the virus. Life ends. It just does. Viruses exist.
At least it's not fucking polio.
Our perfect, clean society is too removed from death and moving further every day. Death is a part of life- of nature. We're moving away from nature and the nature of being human. I don't want to live to see a world like that, personally. Without human touch. Interaction, playing, kissing, living while we are alive instead of simply staying alive for as long as we can in safe, sanitary, perfect bubbles

If we did nothing worldwide, this wouldve cost hundreds of millions of lives. The destruction of the economy would have been worse, and more lives would have been ruined, and millions of people would have still lost their jobs anyway.

The narrative that 'the preventative measures cant be worse than the cure' is a ridiculous one created by the buffoon that is Donald Trump, to appease the important people, and to excuse for all of the deaths at his hands.

Wait and see where Florida is in a few months time if you think doing nothing is a good idea.

Honestly.

I think searching for a hidden meaning and saying things like "returning to nature" and "nature of being human" is big load of crap. There is no God and "Mother nature" and we decide what to do with our lives, in my opinion.

And OF COURSE society is too removed from death, because that's a healthy attitude. Not everyone has shitty life like we do. Respect and be respected.

Biden gets elected and it goes away magically for a few months till everyone is happy again. Then a small resurgence here and there to keep everyone in place and under control.
Don't be surprised if Michelle Obama runs and gets elected at the last minute. I heard She/he has filled out all of the paperwork to be on the ballot this Nov.

Interesting! Do you have a source? I'd only heard that she was a popular suggestion for VP but was not currently up for consideration.

Honestly, after the year we've had so far nothing would surprise me at this point.

2020 has been the year of "Wait! There's more!"
You're damn right on that. It's almost been kinda fun. Some years are so drab and boring.

There's an old saying for years like this. "I hope you live in interesting times." Its damn well been interesting at the very least.

An for good measure.

I think that in the first months of lockdown we were closer to a post-9/11 vibe. In my neighborhood, we really played up the "howl out your window at 8" for healthworkers and there were "thanks healthcare heroes!" signs EVERYWHERE- now all that is GONE. I was a preteen post-9/11 and the reactions didn't end for at least a year, we were all posting paper flags in our windows. There was an illusion of some unity then. Present day, we have been deeply divided and not just politically. People started to get a little too aware of who exactly was going to suffer in the coming economic collapse and well, now just everything is getting pretty wild. The GIF above me is so accurate- I feel like I'm just waiting for another boot to drop everyday. But yeah, I don't think it feels like 9/11 anymore, it feels like something way different.

Just something I heard while listening to a 2 hour long podcast recently. I forget which one. I'm behind on all of the ones I want to listen to so sometimes I'll listen to like 2 or 3 a day.
Well another possibility is that she could be Biden's VP but then he resigns for health reasons and she takes over like that. Or even Hillary could sneak in like that.
If Trump wins again I think the whole country might burn.

I really have no hope for the future. Coronavirus was the last straw. Even if somehow the world recovers from this crisis, which is highly doubtful considering the mess it was in beforehand, there are far too many other threats at hand. From further pandemics and antibiotic resistant disease, to hunger and water crises, pollution, deforestation, overpopulation, weapons of mass destruction and irresponsible leaders, mass extinction and all the effects of accelerating climate change, not to mention the insidious corruption in society, lifestyle diseases and ever increasing inequality.

I think we're living in the end times, but every generation has its endless struggles, so perhaps it's always been like living in the end times. Humanity will survive, but I don't see quality of life improving for the vast majority of people in future. Quite the opposite. Just make a polite exit before things get unbearable.
Thats true. Things dont look well in near future.

IMO, the lockdown is just an excuse to make people get used to authoritarianism. It's all about power. It makes me want to CTB more knowing that evil people are ruling this world.

Im UK and my sisters a nurse. I can tell you by the number of people she has treated, and by the fact she wouldn't even come too close to her own brother and mother, its because its needed(lockdown, social distancing etc). the problem is......all the people who don't take it serious are the ones, that are causing the whole process to 'take longer' to get rid off.

Where i live they had to re-inforce regulations because the numbers were going up. all because people thought to themselves, oh its ok now everything back to normal lets just do as we please!!!

from what i have read where it came from.its come form china i think they said, from a lab. like when the world had the problem with SARS a bit back and it was from a lab in china.
