Method Why is nylon rope not advised for hanging?

Initially I was gonna use my robe but it's too thick. Was thinking of using nylon rope but a lot of people have advised against it for hanging for some reason? Why is that? What better alternatives are there? I can't really buy any shibari rope in my area although that would be my first pick.

Nylon is fine if you use something as padding.

Friction as others have said, though with some padding it'd be fine. Could probably be fine without padding too if you don't care for some scratchy rope feelings.

I'll use 12mm jute rope. Should be fine enough.

Oh well then that's not a problem for me. I could care less about burning, as long as it kills me I'm fine.

Anyone know what "outer skin sliding rate" means about a rope? Is it to do with friction too?

Double braided dock line is great. 3/8 inch is a little thin so look for 5/8 inch. I have 3/4 inch and it can be a little cumbersome to work with. (I have a place that can handle it)
It is silky, almost comfortable and slides well. You owe it to yourself to have something nice at the end.
