This is my chosen CTB method. I love the idea of just drifting away peacefully. I'm super grateful for all the info contributors have provided for this method, but it is very confusing and you can get lost in the inert gas megathread, for sure. I'm gonna dive back in there but it's definitely a lot of work to figure it all out.

Here's what I've read on this forum so far:

Someone posted that they spent $800+ for everything. Perhaps you can find that persons posts, they had pictures of the hose etc.
Helium for balloons is not pure any more, it contains 20% air.
When I read about it in the book, it looked complicated; has a lot of parts, you have to make sure you choose the right valve, that everything connects right. then you gotta practice putting down the hood.
Sometimes people convulse in the process of ctb-ing, kick the gas tank over, or pull the hood off unconsciously.
Also, some people live with parents, roommates… it may not be easy to conceal obtaining all of the parts, and the whole setup. Tank is not that small.
In at least one country now, the gas tanks are sold to businesses only.
I'm not mechanically inclined so any complicated set up like what you are describing - I'd likely mess something up and not do it right

the effort this method needs is definitely worth it in my opinion

Why aren't people using or experimenting with argon gas in enclosed space? Has anyone? Utube shows what's happened to worker when exposed - immediate collapse and death. I want OUT SO bad!!!! The other gas 4 executions now, person struggles and saying its inhumane. Also, why do people try out SN? N not use the amount required to actually die?

I woke up because the tank ran out of gas. I was on the last end of it, about 1/5 of the tank left when I started. I wasn't trying to ctb that time, just test more before I filled it back up.

Funny though, I was sitting in an office chair when I started but when I woke up I was on the floor. I had somehow gotten there while unconscious but I didn't have any bruising or soreness so I assume I did it with some grace. The hose was still connected (I used a hose clamp on the oxygen tubing where it sits over the hose barb to ensure it wouldn't come off in case I jolted or moved while unconscious) and the bag was still firm enough around me to keep me unconscious.

I'm in US. It just made it so that I couldn't leave the hospital for 3 days (for some reason only counts for mon-fri and I ended up having to stay over the weekend so 5 days total).

Psych ward?

Don't forget about transporting the gas tank. Not everyone has a car, and not everyone can drive. Also, the pressure inside the tank itself is quite high - heaven forbid the valve gets damaged during transporting or some actions while person is unconcious.

Why would I go through the effort of obtaining it and the science experiment of setting it up when I could just have a salty boi instead?

I would 100% choose to put more effort into a method than pass away violently at all lol im a p*ssy i guess

No it was 99% Nitrogen. Filled from a welding supply shop.

I'm pretty sure it was the band tightness around my neck letting in too much oxygen as I inhaled. Like I mentioned, as I increased the tightness, the better the results were for my last 2 tests.

But who knows, it could have been the size of the bag, the hose strapped at a bad angle, maybe I didn't properly hyperventilate beforehand. Not sure.
Why didnt u try argon gas? Research it n give me your thoughts, no bag needed

You are so brand new here 🌱.
Why are you promoting a science experiment? I think I remember reading a thread here a while back by someone who had tried argon in an enclosed space, just the way you described.

And what happened?

on this forum its largely been overshadowed by SN and the night-night method, i think a lot of helium canisters containing air instead of pure helium now has gotten people worried and it seems complicated to set up for most people and hard to store/hide from others

It is due to accessibility in terms of cost, setup, and know-it-all to be able to successfully go via inert gases. For starters, even said inert gases are not pure anymore (e.g. Helium for instance, especially certain sources and is rather rare). Then there are other inert gases such as N2 or Ar, or what not, but trying to acquire said gases (usually in large cylindrical tanks) raise questions especially if ordered for non-business related or specific legitimate purposes and that already makes acquisition of materials very complicated. Even assuming that one is able to acquire the materials to go via the gas, failure can happen due to poor or incorrect setups. Finally, the ultimate obstacle of all, even after all that, as with any method, getting past the SI is yet another thing, though it is one of the more peaceful ways to go without suffering (similar to falling asleep and not leaving a mess, most likely dying from deprivation of oxygen.).
