Which ammunition would be most effective?

Hello all,

I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me which 12 gauge ammunition would probably be the most effective: 1145 FPS 00 Buckshot, or, 1550 FPS Slug.

Any assistance is very much appreciated.

at close range it's not going to matter.

If you're using a shotgun, then it doesn't really matter. That will destroy the organs well enough. Just aim correctly towards the brainstem and not anywhere else.
