Not sure whether to call it the peak Sanctioned Suicide experience.
I think longterm members are often questioned in this forum. Personally, I argumented often that one should see suicide only as the method of last resort and that one should be really careful when it comes to approaching this topic. For me it is important not to give advices that don't align with my own approach to this topic.
I am now member for almost 6 years. It has been a wild ride. I cannot remember everything. But I met amazing people on here. From countries all over the world. I miss some members a lot.
I can remember how I vented in this forum almost every single day because my college experience was such a living nightmare. Many told me never in their life would they fight like me. In the longrun it was also bad for my mental health and almost made me commit suicide.
I am not sure how to define peak Sanctioned Suicide. You know my perspective could be skewed. Maybe my peak experience was when my life was relatively good and I wasn't too reliant on this forum and only gave some updates here and there. Or maybe my peak experience was. When I was in dire existential need and only this forum could help me to cope with my loneliness and pain. But I wouldn't say I had the best experience when I felt the worst. Because you cannot appreciate anything in such a state.
I like to think of the time when @DarkRange55 spammed me with all those articles, I skimmed them and we posted so many threads in the politics subforum. It was sort of like a little job for me. It was a routine and it kept me busy. I really liked this time. But it wouldn't be a thing for forever. I think it took a lot of energy and I rather want to spend that on dating. I think this forum has developed. And I have developed to. I think it is good this forum has a recovery subforum.
The whole we against the pro-lifers thing was a little bit annoying. I fully can understand why we had this battle and why we fought it but I am glad that we are now more mature and moved on. And I am also glad the pro-lifers moved on.
And I also tried to contribute to the fact that pro-mortalists have less influence on the forum dynamics in general.
First I had my issues with @Chinaski But I also miss him. There are many more that I miss. I had so many interesting conversations on here. Also about David Foster Wallace.
I think the changes of SaSu are very fluid. There are some trends though. More AI content, less of a pro-mortalist echo chamber, the forum is more pro-trans (Which is good) in comparison to the time with the former administrators, politics is an own sub-forum (which changed a lot), less we against them rhetoric. It seems like traditional media isn't the main source for attention and increasingly Youtube channels will make this forum more known to the public. This might change the demographics. Moreover, It was/is hard to create an account in the UK. Maybe similar actions in other countries will follow. It would be sick if antivirus softwares flagged this website just for the nature of this forum. I think there once was such a conspiracy theory. Someone on here reported it. It is hard to distinguish between different eras of this forum. I wasn't on the subreddit. Maybe other members can elaborate on how different the content was back then.
I am not sure how this forum will develop in the future. Time will tell I guess.
