• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

That is certainly one take, and you are free to view me that way. Another way you might choose to view me is as someone who has more experience with the issues you describe than you can imagine. You didn't answer my question about the drug screenings. You might even consider what behaviors are being exhibited that are leading you to being labeled as drug seeking or malingering by your doctors.

You don't have HIS experience. This thread is about HIS life so HIS EXPERIENCE is the one that COUNTS here.

If he does half of what he does at the doctor that he does in this thread, then I am not surprised by his experience. Again, OP may wish to evaluate why he is being labeled as malingering and drug seeking. For the second time, I'm not stating he is doing either, but at least understanding why this seems to be a common occurrence would be valuable, no?

Well, doctors believe Im am not in pain, so I get my pain pills on my own xD Screw the system. I rather be a pillhead than unable to move?
I cant function, my spine shifts and my head is spinning non stop and they threaten me with sections instead running tests, why should I care if what Im doing is wrong?
Youre only in pain when youre neurotypical and your illness is clearly visible apparently
I'm going to state that living with an intractable pain condition is horrible, and I clearly believe opioids are being under prescribed for many who need them. That said, you are exhibiting many of the signs of malingering or drug seeking behavior. Im not saying you are actually either, but you are exhibiting the signs of them.

I'm not following - you were being treated by a doctor and as a condition you agreed to random drug screenings? Did you fail one (or multiple ones) or just refuse to take them?

I havent even read the whole thread yet. and I feel like this post slapped me in the face. Gee, you are so wise. A+ view of the situation. He didnt even specify any details but you already know hes malingering?

This is the third time I've said I don't know if OP is malingering, but he is exhibiting signs of it. The anger and evasiveness about the drug test would be a clue.

I dont know if youre actually well educated in this so feel free to prove me wrong, but youre just rubbing me the wrong fucking way. Consider that maybe his anger comes from being treated like this? I asked for help for my painful condition and was threatened with a section cause they claimed its in my head, it made me fucking angry? I think in these situations it would be kinda abnormal to not get angry? Did you ever experience chronic pain and how it messes with your head? If someone told me your text post on person it would just inspire me to keep trying to commit suicide. I am suffering and I have drug issues now BECAUSE the system refused to help me in the first place,so I needed to do it myself

Yes, I am in chronic pain and have had more surgeries than I care to count. Treatment of chronic pain is definitely complicated when one has addiction issues. I not only have empathy for OP and yourself, but I am living the dream as well.

it's not hard to look up drug seeking behavior or malingering. I'm not saying you have to agree with the concepts, but the concepts exist.

Am I glad you started this thread. Yes I'm very familiar with this situation. I have fibro and osteoarthritis. I've had chronic pain for the last ten hears. And I'm a young man. The opioid "crisis" is just a bullshit manufactured media darling that has resulted in nothing but more misery and pain for millions. 1/3 of Americans have chronic pain. That's a lot of human beings being punished and denied life changing medication.

Fuck doctors, the media, and pain clinics. The one I went to cut me off cold turkey and forced me to go to clinic for buprinorphine treatment (Suboxone, Zubsolv, etc) and while it's better than nothing bupe isn't a great analgesic. It is a very effective med for addiction though and has a place. I'm still on it. I'd prefer a full agonist opioid but it's better than nothing.

Weed does shit for me or my pain. It does help some people but again not a very effective analgesic in many cases. My biggest concern is if I'm in an emergency and God forbid need pain control fast I'd have to be given a massive dose of a full agonist to overtake the bupe. Bupe is incredibly powerful and will block everything but maybe fentanyl at higher doses.
If you are taking it for pain and addiction why not try methadone? you'll have to go to a clinic daily for a little but you build up carries so you can get up to 27 carries and just go once every 27 days. I was on subs prior to methadone and I would never go back to a partial.
I'm going to state that living with an intractable pain condition is horrible, and I clearly believe opioids are being under prescribed for many who need them. That said, you are exhibiting many of the signs of malingering or drug seeking behavior. Im not saying you are actually either, but you are exhibiting the signs of them.

Yep. The refusal to take a drug screening is why the MD has their red flag waving high. I mean why would someone not take it unless they knew they couldn't pass? If I was truly in unretractable pain I would do anything to get medication to fix that including a simple urine test. I was a heroin addict and know all the tricks and frankly refusing urine tests is a one way ticket to being flagged in the system and I never have met someone who is clean and refuses to do one.

Have you ever heard of patient profiling? Attaching labels to patients because of their behaviour or appearance

Their behavior? Yeah of course. That is a critical part of any medical exam. Appearance? Appearance is also part of a medical exam. Someone going into the ER with track marks complaining about vague pain symptoms is going to get a second look, as will a child, who "fell down the stairs" and has bruises of varying age.

Yep, as someone who works in an emergency department we use appearance and behavior quite frequently to diagnose.

Yeah I'm sure why this is controversial. The subjective assessment is part of a basic exam.

Well, I was profiled as an attention seeker simply because Im emotional and have a mental health diagnosis. Do you still think this a right thing to do? Unless you can see obvious tracks or know someones whole history, it is wrong to assume shit and kick them down even more? Or am I living in some fantasy utopia?
I cant get help because of people like this!

It's not controversial unless one has no idea what they're talking about lol. In the medical field this is absolutely normal.

Of corse you shouldn't be labeled pain pill seeking just because you have a mental health dx but I also don't know the full story or what your doctor thought they knew or did know. I only know what you've said, so I really can't answer more than no I wouldn't ever label someone drug seeking JUST because they had a mental illness and no MD I have ever worked with would either.

I have no clue what your diagnosis or history is, and I certainly wouldn't presume to know better than your doctors.

I can say with all the sincerity in the world that I'm sorry you have had bad experiences and hope things become better or you find the right doctor or therapist.

And doctors can not and should not just pass pills out bc they don't see track marks. There's a lot more to an exam than just what you see with your eyes in front of you.

I have mentioned my car crash on here alot, so I will just jump to the pain med part. I live in the U.S., have been on opoids for 5 years and will for the rest of my life. Now with the "opoid crisis" at least in the U.S., I had to talk to a addication doctor to be able to get pain meds. i told him 2 suicide attempts already, life is quality over quantity, and 3th time would be a charm as far as suicide attempt would go. If I did not get pain meds for my 24/7 chronic pain I would ctb . My medical pain team knows this and has not refused me pain meds, THANK heavens!! Get my refill every 28 days to keep the damn pain at bay. Walter

I've been dealing with chronic pain for about 10 years unmedicated, because according to my local hospital, they're not allowed to prescribe pain meds long term. I now know that's a lie, but still no pain meds. Paracetamol/ibuprofen are like trying to put out a forest fire with a bucket of water.

Looks like I'm probably being refused pain meds because I've complained to doctors about my CONSTANT EXCRUTIATING PAIN too much and they've decided I must be faking, despite, you know, having half of my brain fucked up. Just like everything else in the NHS, if you're too expensive to deal with, you must be faking.

After my car crash, not my fault, I went to 3 different pain clinics and the 4th one was the real deal. The first 3, were where it was a automatic no on opoids or any pain meds and the doctors would talk down to me. They would say from the get go, no pain meds and you will NOT get any. Dumped them, went to the 4th one and BINGO! a doctor who would listen to me and NOT JUDGE me and he was been wonderful in helping me with the chronic 24/7 pain. BUT had to go through 3 before hand. @BridgeJumper1994 , I really hope and pray that you get the pain help that you need. 2 things that I said to my pain doctor, 1) easy to judge, hard to understand 2) life is quality OVER quantity. NOBODY should have to beg to get help. I care and have a world of empathy for you and pray that you get the help that you deserve. Walter

GP: I can only get you referalls.
GP 2: Im not prescribing addictive medication to you
ENT doctor: theres nothing wrong with your ears thats causing ear pain and you need to see a psychiatrist
ER: Fine for 'pointlessly calling an ambulance, accusing me of being on drugs and saying this is causing my room to spin and referal to psychiatric hospital
My family: Youre being dramatic / too young for this / whatever.

:) :) :)

These people also told me my back is fine after I jumped off a 15 meter bridge

this so fucking much. I was told pain meds aren't available long term and that otc stuff doesn't work. so what am I supposed to do?? I was told to try physical therapy which was just stuff i'd already figured out on my own over the years.

It's all down to luck some with nothing wrong blag strong meds yet some suffering are accused of drug seeking. For example I was on my deathbed bleeding out also with delirium psychosis without even a diazepam yet a drug dealing steroid abusing bully scum says he doesn't feel right with the 'pain' from a sprained wrist straight away gets given oramorph and two codeine, 20mg lorazepam and a 7.5mg zoplicone.

Maybe someone higher up there is hellbent on destroying my life and thats why they keep doing this to me?
Ive been literally told to 'just jump again and die do Im not a drain of resources'
Truly compassionate, pinnacle of medical ethics, 15/10 recommend.
No ammount of explanations from people 'having experience' is going to convince me that this is right
