Discussion What was the first method you wanted to do when you started having suicidal thoughts

For me i started at 8 years old and for a long time i wanted to jump

i wanted to jump also but i only had access to like the 4th floor and i didnt want to be a vegetable but still didnt stop me from daydreaming about it my entire high school days.

I never thought about methods, I just felt really depressed and was like 'I'll probably go and end myself' - I never actually attempted. I just isolated and did all the things God forbid.

Now, more serious, it's OD, CO and hanging.

My first method that came to mind was ODing on sleeping pills w/ alchohol which i tried and failed sadly because i didn't take any antiemetics / pretty sure it had a low chance of success anyways so i just spent the night vomiting

CO is my plan but I might go with hanging instead. Seems classic and if I just commit to FSH I figure that'll have a better chance at working. I have about a month to figure it out.

because I grew up in a building with 17 floors,
with 0 survivors by jumping,
it is known as the " suicides house "

When I was younger one time laid down on train tracks and waited. Was drinking, not drunk. Got tired of waiting and left. It was an active line.

At about 9 years old, I returned from school with a 3 out of 5 on a test, for which I was usually severely scolded and given slaps on the back of the head. I tried to hang myself with a towel. But I was quite fat and didn't know how to tie knots, so I struggled with all this for about 20 minutes, became sad, and resigned myself to the inevitable.
Still remember that happy childhood 20+ years later. Was always thinking "it will be better one day". Well not for me I guess. A frontline town, war, poverty... Yes, it's getting better and better. My SN arrived at the post office today...

i dom't really remember cus it started around 16-17 or so cus i didnt really know much but when it started to get alot worse the first time i was actually close to doing it was with a box of codeine we had in the cupboard
though tbh when i was a kid i kinda threatened to do it multiple times one time with a kitchen knife and then one time by threatning to jump out my window (it was like 2 or 3 storeys up lmao)

I cycled through a few for a few years that I can't really remember but I've never been that big on particular methods, the first time I actually tried was with salt

I wasn't bothered with specific methods. Instead, I was bothered that I could escape the reality I brought myself in.

As for method considerations, I took extensive research of peaceful methods as none of the brutal methods appeal me. Even as a last resort, I can't imagine myself choosing any of the brutal methods there are.

For peaceful and accessible methods, I ended up choosing CO asphyxiation. Drug overdose would be my preferred method if there was availability of peaceful, euthanasia inducing drugs but since there are none, CO remains the choice for the time being.

When I was a very unintelligent kid I read people could OD on sleeping pills and die. I asked my mom if I could have sleeping pills to help me sleep. She said no because I very obviously wasn't having any issues with sleep.

Back when I was younger, I had thoughts of not necessarily dying, but causing enough damage to leave myself in a coma for some time. Then I got older and came to this forum after remembering having glanced at it in days gone by, found SN and ordered it. I've actually had it for quite a while now, but never used it, always trying to hang myself instead because it seemed more peaceful.

In my case, it involved cutting open the pulse vein at the wrist.

Jumping, being too young to realize I'd have decent odds of surviving. Ending up{more than likely}a tomato, carrot, beet, or insert fav Vegetable type here_____….. don't remember when started. Prob after head injury

I just want a death as peaceful and painless as possible, a death like falling into an eternal, dreamless sleep where all can finally be gone and forgotten is all I hope for. For me ceasing to exist is just all that's positive, all I want is true permanent peace from this torturous, dreadful existence that I just always saw as a mistake.

Train, I did that and failed, then hanging, now I'd love to get SN, if not inert gas. N would be ideal but that's just a fantasy

Jumping in front of a train. It's not that I particularly wanted to do it, actually it is one of the scariest methods I can think of, but at the time it was the only method available to me that seemed to have a reasonable chance of sucess (I was at the time overestimating the chance of sucess of train suicide).
