Personally I don't mind not existing anymore but reincarnation would also be fine if my life is going to be good. I don't believe in any religion or a higher form though. Are you guys scared of what's going to happen when you die?

I believe the afterlife is happy, or at least better than the present.

No, I don't believe in such, I only believe in the true peace of non-existence where this dreadful, torturous existence is finally all gone and forgotten with no more pain and no more suffering, to suffer in this existence will always be the most terrible mistake to me.

All I hope for is to never suffer ever again, I'll just always see it as an abomination to suffer in this existence that just tortures existing beings all for the sake of it, the peace of non-existence is just all I could ever see as positive no matter what.

I sometimes daydream about the idea of being reincarnated into a woman, while keeping my past memories (no point in a reincarnation if you don't remember your previous life).

It's just a pipe dream. I am fully aware the reincarnation, afterlife, all that sort of thing, do not exist. I fully believe that there's nothing after you die

Realistically? Not existing. That's shouldn't be painful so I don't mind. What I want - like a forever dream (with possibility of being lucid and control it). I'd make a room with my anll my interests and hyper fixations and play chess myself forever. It's a… comfort thought of mine, because that's my way of peace. And since it's like a dream, when you are not lucid you might even feel like you don't exist, so… sounds like comfort for me
I am scared there is hell and I'll go there 😃

It's probably just total darkness with no conscious way to understand it. Schopenhauer describes it better than I ever could.

An afterlife would be cool I guess, but I think that there is unfortunately none. Mby it's just hard for us to truly comprehend that there'll just be nothing

Heaven sounds scary when you think about it: I can't think of anyone who would enjoy being sent off to the Elysian Plains. I like to think if I pray hard enough god will let me reincarnate or let me go to Valhalla ♡ ♡ ♡

I'm a Jehovas witness study (not full on door knocker, just the closest form of Christianity I can get behind without to many bigoted weirdos) and they don't believe in humans going to heaven aside from a very select few. They believe they'll be revived from the dead to a perfect earth like how god intended before Eve fucked everything up. I hope for that to see me at my next form of consciousness beyond this one.

That or reincarnation. I want to try again without an abusive mother, I want to try again without a hyper sexual childhood being groomed on the internet, I want to try again with a normal desk job, I don't know, but I hate the way my life unfolds sometimes, like I've been powerless my whole life, having one last choice to finally be in control and restart would be amazing.

as long as i dont remember anything from this life, its good enough… but i wouldnt be surprised if i ended up in hell, its probably warranted anyway. i dont follow the practices of my birth religion

reincarnation would also be nice only if i didnt remember my past lives. if i knew reincarnation was real id ctb without hesitation a million times if it meant having a meaningful life. and thatd ruin it for me. i dont wanna knowingly gamble and spend several lifetimes for a life worth living after everything ive been through

itd be best for me to return to nothingness though

It is a form of solace—a way of seeking the feeling that everything will be all right, even though one knows there is likely no life after death; in fact, it is not merely a matter of low probability, but rather that there is nothing there—only assumptions, religious influence, and mystical thinking suggesting that "there is something."

For many people, the prospect of life after death or reincarnation offers hope—the idea that, perhaps in another body or another life, they might feel better or be free from thoughts of death. However, I fear the real problem lies in the world we inhabit, our environment, and the way we are raised; consequently, if a life after death were to hypothetically exist, the laws and way of life there would need to be divine and grounded in an advanced mindset for it to truly be worthwhile.

Afterlife sucks, that's my honest opinion, 99 virgins is too much and you have to keep up, otherwise homies look at you weird and call you gay. 5/10, do not recommend.

Seriously though, lately I'm closer to death and I'm trying to wrap my small mammalian brain around this cosmic prison we're in. Maybe after all energy dissipates it turns out to be a singular atom in some larger construct, and this single atom just died, I dunno. Maybe there are universes in which people or aliens got their shit together, actually worked with other species instead of annihilating them and averted global warming then trotted happily into sunset. Their universe was a healthy atom in a body of god, our was start of cancer and god needed chemotherapy.

Sorry for my rambling. My only idea is that it's way above my head.

This life, any life already is afterlife. I don't like it. But probably there's no true escape from here.

Extreme Pain is much worse than people know

Death is Non-existence forever

There is no evidence for any afterlife or reincarnation

Lot of evidence only the brain creates consciousness

A human is just another animal

I'm glad I will cease to exist for all time, right after this torture chamber called my brain will be destroyed

Eternal Non-existence is the only guarantee of never suffering pain
So bad it's a billion times worse than the worst one can imagine

A 1 day old human knows nothing. That all this garbage and extreme torture of life has any meaning is taught , fictional subjective made up garbage

The only thing that has meaning is avoiding unbearable pain

A. 1 day old can suffer pain

Nothing Matters to me except me avoiding unbearable pain and my suicide asap

The perfection of permanent Non-existence is nothing at all wil matter to me not even the above because nothing can as there won't be a me

Purely going with the facts/evidence? There's no afterlife.

But then, how did we get here and why is there something rather than nothing?

And why did non existence not protect us from being here now? Can we fully trust non existence to protect us if it didn't the last time?

I don't know the answers to these questions. I take the view it's probably best not to overthink it, as death is inevitable anyway and all we can do is manage the factors within our control.

As an atheist, I just don't believe any of the religious/spiritual stories that society has promoted to answer these questions. I don't see the hard evidence, and they all have a very strong whiff of stereotypical man-made BS about them.

And I don't feel any great need to believe in something to assuage my fears/worries etc. I'm neither terrified of hell nor particularly excited by the idea of heaven or eternal life… it's all just meh to me…

Plus, the depictions of the Abrahamic/Christian "god" all just seem like some sort of psychopathic maniac.

Like Christopher Hitchens famously put it: "A celestial dictator… a Devine North Korea… the desire to be a slave… and to have a master. Someone who creates you sick, and then commands you to be well… someone who can convict you of thought crimes…"

A supreme being who creates a problem, and then blames us for the problem they created… and threatens us with eternal damnation unless we grovel at their feet and worship them.

That's not a being worthy of praise, let alone worship.

And I see quite a lot of shoddy workmanship on this planet. If that's the work of a supreme being… I'm not impressed. 😂
