Hey everyone,
my suicide is getting closer and closer, and these days I'm very interested in what might happen after death. I've read a lot about the subject. Nobody knows 100% what will happen. The major religions say there will be a heaven and a hell. There are theories about reincarnation. What we do know is that after we die, we are no longer here. Each of us is a unique being and we will be gone forever. There is no way for humans to make contact with a dead person.

I would be very interested and grateful if you could share your opinion on the topic. What do you think will happen when a person dies?

And are you afraid of the unknown?

One of the reasons why I am still here is the unknown of what happens after you die. I'm scared it's going to be worse if that is even possible.

The uncertainty is making me anxious, too, but unfortunately, I have to go. I have to endure so much pain and suffering every day that I just want to end this suffering. Therefore, I have to accept the uncertainty.

I don't suffer from uncertainty. I view life in an extremely practical sense where death is just death and nothing more comes out of it. Consciousness comes from the brain and once that dies, goodbye. You go back to what you remember before you were born, nothing. You cease to exist. Millions of years could go by and you wouldn't have a sense of it. Tragedy could occur right where you used to live, and you wouldn't know. You simply don't exist anymore, you're gone.

I also tend to believe this way but please let me ask you something: lets assume this is the truth then what is the meaning of life? I doubt it's interacting with others or having a fulfilling career, because not everyone has that. So what then? Enjoying nature? Is life a kind of lottery, and some are extremely lucky and get a wonderful life while others live nothing but miserable lives?

I see the meaning of life as separate from death. It's one big race, where luck pays off. Some people have wonderful lives and others don't, but they all die the same way and go to nothing. Some would argue with you that there is no meaning to life. I would have to agree, except we make our own meaning. There's no intrinsic meaning to life, but we do have a purpose which is to survive and reproduce. That much is apparent. Still, we all lie down and die alike.

This is a question that humankind has always wrestled with. There is no proof of what happens after we die, and there likely never will be. So each person has to find the answer that makes the most sense for them. For me, I believe in a combination/mesh of Christian heaven and New Age reincarnation.

Yeah, it's anyone's guess. But since I'm not particularly religious, I think it'll probably return to something like before we were born. Nothingness.

But saying that, I also think quite strongly that consciousness could be just as fundamental a thing as space and time, and that it's reused. Even fundamental particles could possibly have very tiny amounts of consciousness. But my theory is that memory is NOT conserved. So perhaps when I die, my consciousness could partially be transferred to the flowers above my final resting place.

But yeh, even then, when I try CTB often I worry about this. What if I get reincarnated as a suffering animal? What if I get reincarnated as a similar version of me, but in an even worse position? What if, against all my best judgements, I do get sent to hell for killing myself? I've postponed CTB a number of times worrying about this

Unfortunately, I think we're doomed to an endless cycle of birth and death. If you're born once, there's a good chance this will happen again and again. Just because you look at an animal and think it has no consciousness, doesn't mean animals have the capacity to experience emotions and pain. That's why every time a living being is born—human or animal—a new capacity to experience existence is created. But this isn't the concept of reincarnation or similar bullshit; it's just a logical reasoning we can deduce. I hope I'm wrong.

this world is truly and evil place. So many narcissists cheat their way through yet so many people who had good characteristics get so many punches in their face by this world. I really can't wait to finally leave this shit show. Its a very unfair world we live in and its very materialistic.

I just believe death to simply be non-existence where this torturous, dreadful existence I always saw as the most terrible tragic mistake is finally all gone and forgotten about which is all I hope and wish for.

I just want to never exist ever again, all I wish for is peace from the abomination of existence, all I wish for is to be unconscious for all eternity free from all pain and suffering, I'd never wish for this deeply undesirable, futile existence that to me is just suffering all for the sake of it with no limit as to how much one can be tortured, I'd be so relieved to never suffer again, for me non-existence is just all that's positive.

As far as I'm concerned death is just one big eternal sleep. When I OD'd that was all I experienced.

Literally anything could happen, including nothing. It's something we will all have to deal with when the time comes and not something you can prepare for imo (unless you believe in some sort of religion).

There is 0 proof of anything happening after death. All that awaits us is darkness. Based on the facts.

That would mean billions of people world wide believe so strongly in a lie

Yes, that is because billions of people in history have been taught to believe this. They've been indoctrinated. Where's the proof? Cult leaders and religious leaders trying to control the masses through doctrine. That's all. So you're saying just because they believe it, it's true? All of this will get phased out eventually. Won't happen anytime soon. But it will eventually.

And people believe because they want to believe. It's a very rosy ideal. And they are free to believe in it if they want, make no mistake. I don't.Human beings find reality difficult to accept. The thought of disappearing completely for most people is also a terrifying thought.

we have no way to know

but the universe are like 14 billion years old in that time we did not have a body so when our body someday die i think we will get back to the same "condition"

everything was so empty that 14 billion years when by wayout even noticing

just noting, think back and image how it was before you ware born, that kind of emptiness is my best guess of the afterlife
