  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

If parents are so inadequate that they can't ensure their children have a good enough upbringing then that has an enormous effect on those children into adulthood and throughout life.

The way people behave in life depends on their early experiences. Children who are abused don't learn all the basic things they need to successfully survive and flourish in the world. Things that children who were adequately cared for take for granted.

Children in neglectful and abusive families have a faulty and inaccurate blueprint of how to behave. All sorts of things can be problematic for them because they have only been exposed to abuse.

These children have no idea how kind and decent people conduct themselves and often they don't know how to react when people outside the family show them kindness. Why should they? They may even distrust affection and support as they have been betrayed so often.

Not knowing how to socialise and interact with people affects their whole life - their schooling - their employment - their relationships - their self-esteem. It goes on and on.

Some people can break out of this but it really isn't easy. They manage to discard a lot of what they learnt when young and change their expectations and responses. I would say that it is still hard work.

@Archamais I completely understand where you're coming from. When your family is so bad that you cut contact with them you end up without the mutual support and backup that people with reasonable families can rely on.

It's doubly unfair because the world in general just assumes you have a family to help you out. When I was in hospital a nurse got really nasty with me because I said I didn't have a next of kin - she just wouldn't believe me.

And of course it makes you sad when most or all of your memories of your family are hurtful.

I was seriously traumatised by the "family" I was born into. No child should be abused or neglected and you didn't deserve any of it.

You have a lot of understanding and insight and what your family did was totally unfair.

It's even tougher than those who were born with congenital disabilities. Our struggles in life are inextricably tied up with our coming into existence. You should have heard my mother when she found out my cousin was having some problems: "it doesn't just happen to us". Because that's how disabled children are often viewed, as things that " happen", terrible misfortunes that befall poor, helpless parents. Ugh.

Excellent post, and it summarizes up a lot of the problems in the world and those who end up finding the way to this platform in order to seek refuge in a world that is hostile towards their ultimate choice, the choice to decide whether to live or die. Furthermore, I agree with the antinatalist stance as the world is not a place where I would want to be in, let alone having new life brought into it only to suffer until death.

I've never understood why some people are upset that they were born or strongly resent their parents for bringing them into this world. From reading these posts I think I get it now. I'm so glad I took the time to read them all. What a terrible thing to have to deal with. It sounds so sad and hurtful. I did not have the best childhood and life has been very hard. But I know/feel that I was planned and wanted- just not always loved. My best to all of you who never felt wanted, loved or are upset about being brought into this world. Peace.

Yeah it's wild…some physical organisms fucked once and here we are! Battling through every empty hour…slaves to our organs…prisoners to our society…

STOP HAVING KIDS!!!!!!
People should stop having kids, that´s what I´m thinking about myself. We really shouldn´t suffer for years because our parents reproduced. But that´s what we are doing anyway. The reasons are the high life expectancy and the lack of euthanasia. People live against the course of nature in the society, protected in houses without enemies. It´s up to the politicians to introduce child restraint and euthanasia. However, humanity is neither willing nor able to solve the problem of population and therefore we can expect an overpopulation disaster in the future - we are already living in it.

And we sit in these houses watching screens that glamorize consumer goods and "milestones" such as starting a family.

It's crazy how we are groomed from the beginning to think about stuff like who would make a "cute couple", what clothing and accessories best accentuates our assets, what young people will be like "when" they are parents, what our ideal partners will be like, etc. Babies babying baby dolls. It's weird.

I sometimes wish I could magically sterilize everyone and sit back and watch the breeders freak the fuck out…

What meaning would their lives have if the "miracle" just did not happen anymore? Bahaha ugh I did not want to wake up today

Yeah, I was unplanned, unwanted, unloved, abused and now struggle with childhood PTSD. My bad mental health and being disabled due to severe chronic pain earned me the LIABILITY badge. It honestly feels that they would be relieved when I ctb.
