Let me first say that this was not a CTB attempt, but I want to share this story for anyone who is thinking of trying to use Nytol (diphenhydramine) to CTB.

I've not been sleep well of late, so I have been taking the 50mg Nytol tablets to aid in this regard. Last Thursday, I had a beer before bed and took two 50mg tablets, which constituted twice the recommended dose for an adult. They began to work after about an hour, and I felt extremely drowsy to the point that I feared falling asleep suddenly. Lying down, I felt an intense tiredness that was extremely pleasant, and I soon drifted off.

On Friday night, hoping to recreate this, I again took two Nytol tablets, but I did not drink anything. Again, I felt drowsy rather than the somnolent euphoria of the night before, my limbs began to feel very strange. I can't articulate the sensation very well, but it felt like something akin to how my legs feel when I haven't been to the gym for a few days, if that makes any sense. I was only able to alleviate the feeling by moving, which is not conducive to sleep, naturally. I eventually had to get up and walk around the room before the feeling subsided as it was simply intolerable.

I don't know whether the enjoyable experience of the first night was due to my drinking a beer, but this made me think of what would happen if one were to take dozens of Nytol. I've heard it said that diphenhydramine cannot reliably be used to CTB, and I now take such deterrents seriously. If anyone is planning to attempt to OD on these sleeping pills, please reconsider!

I 100% agree with you that overdosing on Nytol is not worth it and won't work.

I tried overdosing on Nytol once before along with drinking tons of alcohol. I even didn't take that many tablets (it was only like roughly a dozen). I puked over most of my bedroom, I felt dizzy and had a headache. But worst of all, I was hallucinating there were spiders everywhere. It was bloody terrifying. Definitely up there with my caffeine overdose as one of the worst experiences of my life.

Thank you for sharing your experience and making people aware of this. Failing a ctb attempt really sounds so horrible to me.

I had the idea years ago of mixing about 100 Nytol with alcohol. I believe that that could cause a fatal overdose, but I would opine that it would not be a pleasant passing.

That said, I do find nytol to be a using sleeping aid if one can get the 50mg variety.
