I'm hoping his not being here is a good sign, but going by our conversation in early Jan I'm not confident.

I worry he doesn't know about the URL change and thinks we've gone under.

I remember he was planning to be gone in December, but something happened. If I remember right he's taken haituses before, but this doesn't feel good. Been worried.

Regards the URL change I typed sanctioned suicide in DuckDuckGo and the new link was there, so I'm hopeful that anyone else who searched would find it too?

I think if they did that with all the names it would be nice. (unless they already fixed that)

The only problem with that is it only works if the user changed their name before they banned. Atleast from what I've seen.

I take it most of the goodbye threads are behind the private section? It means some people can't say goodbye to them, and those people also have to post their own goodbyes in public. I don't suppose there's a way round that.

Yes, if we're still talking about foxdie, he didn't want to make a fuss. Just posted on his profile. But I have seen one or two people post goodbye threads in The Sanctuary. The majority of goodbye threads are in the suicide forum, though.
