I'll try and keep this short and to the point. I can confirm that VSED rightfully belongs on the list of methods that shouldn't be attempted. I'm kind of proud of myself, I made it 38 days without eating so much as a crumb, but I did continue to drink water. Here's what I learned:
1) If you want to look like you just walked out of Auschwitz, don't eat for 38 days. You could almost see every bone in my body. My skin was hanging off of me and very wrinkled. I looked like I was 100 years old.
2) I think everyone's experience with this is probably different. For me, the hunger never went away. Never had any muscle spasms, no headaches, and no vomiting. Really bad dry mouth. Smoked a shit ton of cigarettes during that time which probably didn't help. Got dizzy, but never fainted.
3) From the research I did, with just water it can take anywhere from 60-90 days to die. Aside from the massive weight loss, I didn't feel like death was even remotely close, so I threw in the towel.
4) suffered from something called refeeding syndrome which is when you eat way too much, especially of the wrong food, after a prolonged fast. I had bad double vision and had problems walking and talking. For a couple of days I thought I might have had a stroke. Took close to a week to finally fully recover.
This is my third attempt and I'm still fucking here. I really am at a loss. I want out of this shit storm of a life and I've failed at every turn.

Refeeding syndrome can be fatal if not recognized and managed properly, particularly due to severe electrolyte imbalances that can lead to organ failure.

Yea that's what I read. Unfortunately that was not the case for me. I was hoping that was going to be my last second Hail Mary into the end zone, but it was not to be. I'm starting to think I might be invincible and live forever.:ohhhh::shy:

Yup! Watched TV and dicked around on my phone. The boredom was excruciating at times.

I don't know how anyone could go 38 days without eating food. VSED has to be up at the top of the most miserable ways to die. You're like torturing yourself FIRST before even getting to death. Screw that! Who the fuck wants to be tortured? Haven't we already endured enough torture? We deserve peaceful means, not torture.

I was just sharing my personal experience with the members to discourage them from trying it. I'm not sure why you're getting your panties in a wad. Please share your peaceful method with all of us. FYI I'm not the only person on this site who has tried this. One guy came damn close to succeeding.

I had a similar experience when I tried a few years ago. I stopped eating and drinking, and it was absolutely horrible. Day 1 was OK, day 2 was harder, and when night 2 started I began fading in and out of sleep, seeing water all around me but I was too weak to reach out and drink it. I'm talking waterfalls, rivers, rain, endless water but my body just couldn't move anymore. The thirst was getting incredibly intense, and combined with the visions I had had enough. 0/10

I knew from the get go that I'd never make it without water. Thirst is such a powerful force. The hunger was nothing to sneeze at either, but far less severe than halting water all together. If you choose to go out by VSED it needs to be pumped full of the finest drugs the medical community has to offer. I've got a .45 but I don't have the balls to pull the trigger…yet!

God you must have balls of steel.. I couldn't even go a day without eating even if it was just a little bit of food.

Nope not balls of steel just a burning desire to die. If I had balls of steel I'd put the .45 I have in my mouth and pull the trigger. I'm hoping I get the courage to do so sooner than later.

I agree. I tried this earlier this year. Only went 5, maybe a bit more days without food and water. Hadn't found this place before I did that. The food isn't a problem for me as I have an ED, but the drinking part was terrible. In the end, I was in the hospital and was about to be put under the act. So I stopped.

I have an ED too and I would have zero problem with the not eating. I'm thinking that if I just sedate myself, I can sleep through until I lose the ability to stay conscious anyhow. If my mouth gets too dry to take pills without water, I can do them rectally.

You have no say in what happens going forward for treatment, as the people treating you feel as though you are not in the right frame of mind to make healthy decisions for yourself. For me, I was going to be sedated and then force-fed.
