Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Hi All,

I've been at the station a while now, and the bus is finally pulling in. I started to get my affairs in order and am looking for guidance to see if I am missing anything. I've compiled a list below of the things I've done/am working on. Please let me know if you think I'm missing anything and/or if you have thoughts on the questions provided?

  • Update will, power of attorney and health care directive
  • Updated executor. Is it better to have a non-family member as the executor of the will given what the family member may be going through?
  • Pull together a consolidated list of all bank accounts, retirement accounts, and brokerage accounts
  • Pull together a list of other investments (real estate, venture, funds, etc)
  • Pay off any debt (excluding mortgage)
  • Cancel recurring subscriptions services (Netflix, Spotify, etc.)
  • Provide mortgage information (thankfully the value of my property should cover this if/when it is sold)
  • Does anyone know if I can gift my frequent flier miles and credit card points? (I could probably Google this but am being lazy)
  • Anything else?
The next big thing of course is deciding what bus to get on. The easiest one to access right now is suspension hanging. Unfortunately I don't have access to SN now that DMC is off line. I'd be open to perspectives on which bus you'd recommend as well.

Thank you all.

I am also figuring out finalizing all my affairs. It's a lot 😅 in my documents with all my passwords and things to know that I could think of that would be useful for someone finalizing everything, I just put my username and password for my frequent flyers bc when I looked it up, you can gift them to someone else so with my log in info and flyer number, they can gift themselves with the miles - I have Alaska airlines so I'd assume most airlines would be similar.

I am so lazy about making my Will legal, getting a poa, and health care directive. I am worried people would catch on since I don't have a terminal illness (unless depression counts 😬). But I have important info typed up. It just seems like a big task. But I should look into it.

This looks like a good list. I think it's great to try and make things easier for those left behind. Other things I've done is:
1. Found a cremation company and wrote the phone number for it
2. Found a company that could pack up and get rid of all my things (I live by myself in an apartment) (I've been getting rid of things down to basics that I'd want if I failed attempt or found some hope to live)
3. Found a company that will professionally clean my apt (I am going to do a basic good cleaning)
4. Going to save some good pics of my I like on my phone
5. I do have certain things that need to go to certain people so I'm going to get the envelopes ready and instructions
6. Some people have recorded themselves so people can either have them on video or hear their voice, not sure if I will or not
7. Debating on writing individual letters or one (bc that's a lot) and basically emphasizing that this is no one's fault and no one could have changed this outcome

Idk, it's definitely good to think in this and see what others say and keep a list to see what you are capable or feels right for you. I wish you luck with this, I understand how hard it all is 💕

Good list.

-Make sure any investment accounts and bank accounts have beneficiaries up to date or transfer on death provisions. This will really speed up transfer of assets, if you haven't done it already.
-Yes, I think a non-family executor would be good, personally spesking
-if you do your own taxes, is there any info you need to leave on how someone can pick that up?
-I recently started to think about two factor authentication. Most of my accounts require this so user name and password aren't enough unless they have my phone or I turn the multi-factor off.
