Discussion Thoughts on a collaborative CTB guide?

It's been on my mind for a few days to create a guide on how to CTB effectively and peacefully. Although it would not be something I'd be able to create on my own - at least not for a while. I can probably go from most popular methods from the least popular.

My goal for this it to go as in depth as possible - providing the most accurate numbers possible in a short concise way.

My only knowledge of a guide to CTBing would be Stan's guide which only covers SN.

Would anyone be willing to collaborate or share information? (preferably with sources).

I'm also unsure if a guide like this would be prohibited on the forums, I don't think I read any rule that would of mentioned that but it'll be nice to have confirmation before I get started.

Thanks for reminding me I almost forgot funnily enough. I'll try my best to see out my options and gather others opinions on this.

It depends a lot of the country. Providing general information is not at all considered assistance in some. Maybe we should have a guide in what you can and cannot share based in jurisdiction.

That'd be a great resource for others here, would be perfectly legal too so I wouldn't be risking myself with that either. Generally be a lot easier and allow freedom of speech without fear.

I'd just need to toll up the countries everyone lives in or would be interested in such a guide. I'll see what I can do, thanks for the idea.

Theres already the suicide resource compilation and one chart I cant find right now that list all the common methods in a chart with availability, success % and painfulness.

That might be getting into more of a grey area against site rules. Might be wrong. But theres guides for hanging, guns, co, inert gas and other easy access methods in the resource compilation. The others people just spam for source as thats why people cant access those methods but that I know is against site rules.

Not planning on posting sources as that is against site rules although what I was trying to say that I will give information on how to find sources but not outright name them, only bad will come from that and if my guide would be used for a long time after it was posted it'd already get outdated quite quick.

I'm trying to find out if it would be allowed on the site without issue although if there is one I will definitely ditch my efforts, I just don't see it being worth it past that.

I think that's a kind thought. I can't say as I'm no rule expert. Just dont want you to get in trouble. If you figure out something that would work I'd definitely help you if I can. My soul aches for the people struggling, how hard it can be and the damage that can be done from failed attempts. I also worry about impulsive decisions where sometimes the time it takes to figure out a method give people a chance to make sure their sure in their choice. Please let me know if you take up the project.

100%, I was just earlier having second guesses about how available the methods discussed in such a guide would do for our members in crisis. Although it would be a guide towards peaceful passings overdoses would be the most talked about method.

I think discussing hanging or other methods would need to be reconsidered and maybe left out for that reason. A problem can be the information would be made too accessible.

I'll PM you if I decide to take it up. Thanks for the worries and input on this - I certainly wouldn't want to be cause of any compulsive CTB attempts but those who haven't explored their options or heavily considered.
