Those who’ve “trained” themselves for hanging, have you found it helpful?

Hanging is the idea I find most appealing but I think SI is liable to be a big obstacle for me. It occurred to me practicing a bit with neck construction and such where I know I'm not actually doing the deed could ease me into going all the way by making a lot of the approach more familiar. I know others have talked about doing this on here but I can't think of if I've ever seen a consensus if it's a worthwhile thing to do with that goal in mind. Let me know if it isn't too much trouble anyway…
