Nembutal (pentobarbital) is not a sedative at high doses, it acts as an anesthetic. It was used, as were other barbiturates, as an anesthetic for years before it was replaced by safer methods like propofol. You don't "feel everything" if you take a high enough dose as it will lead to unconsciousness and lack of awareness. There carries a small risk that the dosage may not fully produce an unconscious state but that is highly unlikely with the recommended 10g of oral pento.

Also, its not used on animals anymore in most places in north america due to there being a massive shortage of the substance. They wouldn't give it to animals either if they "felt everything". Pentobarbital was used, and is still sometimes used for human euthanasia.

It also does not "paralyze" you. Its not a neuromuscular blocking agent, and it only affects autonomic function through CNS depression, or unconsciousness.
I can confirm that natrium pentobarbital is sometimes used for euthanasia in Belgium. For those who can understand Dutch, here's the source:

THANK YOU.
Hi guys, what do we know about N getting more difficult to obtain in Peru starting next year? Does anyone know what the new regulations will entail, like will it become impossible to get it, will the pharmacist call the cops on you if you ask or something? Or will it just be more difficult but not impossible? Also, any news on N in the other South American countries that are mentioned in the book, like Bolivia or Ecuador? I haven't read the 2024 edition yet.
I'm not sure re difficulty to obtain but I have an idea on how you might be able to find out, if you haven't already thought of this, maybe use google translate and search in the native language online re N in Peru, then run those articles through the translator. This will prob be the fastest way to get current news, assuming their own news even talks about it (which frankly I hadn't considered til just now oops) but this might still be worth a shot. Maybe check the subreddit for Peru? As well.

Please don't ask this question on any Peru subreddit. The more these topics enter mainstream forums, the more difficult it will be to obtain N because general awareness will increase, including local people. It happened in other countries.

Lmao why would anyone want to ask this question in any subreddit, especially non ctb related?

Edit: oh, I see the earlier comments now. Yeah please everybody, don't ask this stuff on reddit lol. So many reasons not to.

Thanks. I speak Spanish so I will keep an eye on the news. I haven't thought about it and wonder if it will be on the news.

I speak Spanish too and I have not seen anything on the news myself or anywhere else. It is only natural that the more foreigners go to die in Peru, the more this will become common knowledge. This has happened in Mexico and it is now slowly happening in Peru. If you have a vet store and there is a constant stream of foreigners coming in with no Spanish, with their Google Translate on their phone and all ask for the same thing, of course sooner or later it gets more widely known and stores will be less likely to sell it. Not to mention the stupid ideas on this forum of people wanting to go there in large groups.

Sure, that makes sense. But is there a date by which some new regulation will take place in Peru? I keep hearing about next year but when exactly? And will it still be possible to bribe some pharmacist lol, or will they all basically be obligated to call the cops on you if you ask, do you know?

I don't owe you anything, pal. Believe what you want. If you want to suffer, do so, the hell would I care LOL
You can keep insisting that, but it simply is not true. All of the assisted death organizations in Switzerland use Nembutal because it is a peaceful and reliable death. I've watched videos of people exiting that way and it is anything but suffering.
The only 100 % painless method is a shotgun. A slug explodes the head.
Painless? You must be joking. Also not reliable.

There are no new regulations, I don't know why you are obsessed with this topic and where you heard it. There is nothing new. It is already illegal to sell without prescription, nothing new is coming. Whatever you keep hearing is incorrect. It is already a regulated substance and it already requires a prescription. I think you are overthinking this and being rather paranoid. Some already tried bribes but usually it does not work. To be able to buy it in an agro-store, you need a great deal of luck and you might have to travel around to different small towns and try it. Just stop obsessing with this new regulation topic. It is already a controlled substance, nothing new is coming. Jesus

I am "obsessed" because I have a trip to South America planned for next year and need to know if I need to change my itinerary. There are rumors that things will get more difficult in Peru specifically, even PPH promises an update on that in the new edition. I've been researching this topic for years, so no need to be condescending, I am full aware that buying N is not like buying bread. And plenty of people tried bribes and succeeded. Not sure where you get your information from. Best of luck to you.

Anyone got any ideas/experience of posting things back themselves from foreign countries? (The original point of this post)

I have no direct experience but from the info I've been gathering over the years, there are mixed reports.

If you're crossing borders/flying - Some have been able to sneak it in with their other medicines without any problems. But some also had it confiscated, can't remember what the consequences were - fines or detention etc. I guess it also depends what your country is, better check what the laws and the penalties are. In theory you could transfer it to another container but that will impact sterility and who knows if N will stay effective this way - so in practice, I don't think it's a good idea. I am also thinking you could take off labels and replace them with some fake labels of a totally legal substance that looks similar. Although if you have like four bottles it may raise some questions.

If you're shipping - I think I would definitely swap labels and declare some nonsense on the customs form. Like, are they really going to check if it's N? Anyway, it looks like it's doable as some have done it, but it is risky nevertheless.

I can't risk transporting it myself as I am too ill to go to prison; I'd have to just hang myself in a cell at that point. The only option is to post it. My (very vague at this stage) plan is to make up a return address and send to a PO box back home. Not sure how feasible that is. Might make several attempts from Peru

Yeah I totally hear you. My worst nightmare is that if something goes wrong I will wake up in a mental hospital, and with all the chronic stress that I have already been living in it would just aggravate everything further and I'd also have to hang myself or something. Other than opting for ctb in Peru, I am not sure what else to suggest, sorry :( Hopefully someone else on here has better ideas.

PPH is scoring Nembutal a 10/10 for 'reliable' and another 10/10 for 'peaceful'. 4/5 for 'fast and effective'. 'Dignified dying' states that 6g (or more) will make you fall asleep within 10 to 15 minutes. Death occurs hours later, could even be up to 6 hours. So at least 2 sources claim the opposite.

What are your sources?
What is the risk like if you are found in the 6 hours you are unconscious but not dead? Is there a possibility of surviving but having brain damage if someone takes you to hospital for treatment while you're unconscious? That is my biggest fear…
