Therapist fired me today. Completely ignored what I said and kept lying about her expertise on top and what she said and about what I said and what I am doing.
I am fucking done. She's done me so much harm.
Fuck, I even said verbatim I want to kill myself because of it because I am in so much pain from over stimulation and (insert big list of my current issues) and she did not give a fuck or even mention it.
She just kept saying "I cannot help you, there's nothing I can do" at best, then after I told why I am feeling the way I am and everything and her non-stop ignoring me I ended up raging and throwing a stim toy in the office on the floor and she told me we cannot continue like this.

Like, what the fuck do you mean? It's your job to help me calm down, find methods to calm down and navigate it all, but instead you just shrug and say you cannot help me, and that I am such a bad case it'd take years and years to help me get better. Holy shit.

I just feel so alone. I have so much rage. I am in so much pain. Yet I keep getting assaulted by life non-stop because of my neurodivergence and I need a break a week ago, yet it keeps pushing me more and more and more.

Ironically at this point I wouldn't mind getting admitted, because at least there I know I could rest for a week or two and get better, but I guess I wouldn't be suicidal enough for that, yet.

I absolutely know this feeling! So many therapists like to pretend the only issues that exist are mild anxiety and mild depression and if you have anything else theyll just pretend youre overreacting. overall therapy is mostly bullshit unless you get one that truly cares about others but thats rare. a lot of them just want the money and barely even listen. ive had several of them ghost me with no warning. therapists often make people worse by leaving them like this and i totally feel you :( i hope your day isnt too shitty

I'm really sorry you went through this awful experience. It sounds like your therapist wasn't competent for what you needed from her.

It's painful when we invest trust just for it to be broken and us let down. Please know there are competent people that specialize in neurodivergence that can help. It may feel painful now to seek a new therapist, though, would you give it a try after you have regulated your emotions a little bit? Ask them in advance (either in the communication or the 15 minute interview prior to committing to therapy with that therapist) in what they specialize or if they are competent enough to treat you. If they don't, then it's not a fit.

I'll be having a long break from therapy if I ever do decide to go back, but yeah I'll be sure to do some sort of interview at first ig to assess just exactly how much they know, if they e.g. are up to date on recent papers, knowledge etc or just went to school once 20+ years ago and called it a day.
I guess one big red flag was her using outdated terms on me, as well as making me do research on the ICD-10/11 and find diagnostic codes for her.

I've had several and they've all said that they don't know what to do with me. If you have anything more severe than mild depression/anxiety they're completely useless.

Ive been through like 6 therapists. So many of them say they are trained in trauma therapy but most have no idea what they are doing

If they don't have specialization in one of these (combination or not), then it's likely they are trauma informed but not trauma therapists: EMDR, IFS, NARM, somatic experiencing, sensorimotor psychotherapy, neurofeedback (not trauma therapy, though helps with emotional regulation)

I did in conjunction with therapy and it made all the difference. Too bad my therapist had countertransference, though, due to her unhealed trauma. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. 😔

Terrible response honestly. After someone pours their heart about how therapy is a negative experience, the response is to try a new therapist?

It might be counterintuitive, but yes. If we find a safe person who's specialized in what we need, they can help us heal.

Don't rely on therapists. There is a limit how much they can "help"

In reality, life is just too shitty. Not something easy to be fixed in the first place

Don't get your hopes high with them anymore

Sorry to hear it didn't work out

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. I feel like most therapists are equipped to deal with superficial problems only, anything developmental and serious is out of their scope, and it just becomes more about social control.

I'm so sorry you're in this position. That's a really bad therapist. Don't take it personally, it's not your fault. After all, you're trying your very best. I haven't had a therapist that bad but I did give up on my last one because they were just kind of clueless. But they're only human and no human is perfect. As far as getting "committed," that's something that might help, but I would probe this site for what people have gone through if you decide to go down that road. Whatever happens to you, I really wish you the best. 🤗
