One of the afterlife theories to which I have paid most attention is the one that says that life is a dream, to understand this I am going to explain some points that made me think about this

Every time I sleep, my dreams tend to be related to experiences that I have never experienced in my life and I think this is the same for other people.
Two members of this forum have reported that in their lucid dreams in which they have a will of their own, they have committed suicide but then immediately wake up from the dream
Scientifically there is no exact explanation about the reason for dreams or why they exist

From this my theory is
  • In reality we are dreaming, and when we die we will wake up from that dream
  • Or maybe when we die, it is when we will begin to be submerged in an eternal sleep or until we wake up from that dream
  • Or reality is only part of the dream of another living being, perhaps that living being is who everyone knows as God

I think this world is a place of learning- kind of like school; and when we die we go consciously live our regular forever lives. Just my take. I look forward to it whatever it is.

i need to teleport myself from my body inhaling DMT(in videogame) to figure this out

just need to find that bark if it's still legal

whether life is a dream or don't , is a question of egg and chicken level. impossible to prove empirically while person's alive

When you think about it, the idea of objective reality is based solely on shared experience. We don't know what it's made of but we can measure the way it behaves and compare out measurements (which is what science does). So what we call physical reality is technically the same as a shared dream, don't you think?

I mentioned on here once that a few years ago, I had a very, very lucid dream that felt real. I woke up in a random place, with random people who were all happy to see me (again).

It was really bizarre and while I typically forget dreams, that entire experience has stuck with me. It felt like I woke up in another world. I can't explain it, but it's almost changed the way I've thought about what's going on here. It doesn't make any sense.

As an analogy, if you had had a VR headset put on at the time of your birth displaying imagery of, say, planet Mars throughout your life, that reality would feel 100% real just as our current reality does in the waking state. The sense of realness comes from identifying with our thoughts and the thought-based protagonist called 'me', without noticing that they are just another appearance within this realm. The false validating the false.

What is indisputably real is whatever invisible force is observing all this, including looking through your eyes now. It also observes passing states of dreaming and the nothingness of deep sleep. Another similar analogy is like watching TV and seeing various passing shows, each time being so immersed that the content of the TV feels real.

Death of the body definitely tends to bring insights by exposing the falseness of identifying with the body, but the most desirable state is seeing through the entire illusion. For people who have achieved this 'awakening', death doesn't exist and somehow, in a manner impossible to convey verbally, they have total clarity about their/our own true nature as pure universal consciousness.

i hope reality is one big bad dream. my actual dreams, even though half of them make no sense, bring me some kind of peace that i can never find when i'm awake. i like sleeping so much just for the dreams. my favorite thing is waking up from a happy dream and rushing to fall back asleep in hopes that it'll continue again :)

The thought of CTB only to wake up in another life (one that is possibly even more gruesome than this one) is honestly terrifying.

A nightmare. Thinking that death may not be the end isn't comforting. I don't want to exist in any way. I just want to be gone.

It's scientifically proven that energy cannot be destroyed. So yeah.. we'll live on in some way shape or form. Most probably.

What if you don't have a choice?

Will you go through the light tunnel or turn around?

Defnintely not through the tunnel if I can help it. I have a strategy in place to create my own reality, focus on it as much as possible in the months leading up to CTB. And during CTB set the firm intention to go there, immerse myself in it, visualise it. Leave no room for any other possibilities in my consciousness.

Also gonna work on shedding beliefs/focus on negative possibilities like "what if i have no choice" or "what if it doesn't work" because that's not gonna help anything lol. What will happen will happen, so at least these last few months I'm going to immerse myself in a constructed reality of freedom and peace and sovereignty because it's literally all I can do in my state.

The way I see it, life is just a temporary state in between nothingness. There was nothing before were were born, and there is nothing after this life. I believe death to be like how when time passed before we were born and yet we were not aware of anything. When we die we return to the nothingness where we belong. Life is just a dream and to return to nothingness permanently is to wake up from that dream. But I do see life as a nightmare rather than a dream.

I like the idea of total non-existence after death, and I think most people here like it too.

This is the complete idea behind the Matrix series of films. We are living a different reality than we think we are.

I too have had many lucid dreams and the difference with real life is that you cannot relate to the people there. There are a lot of actors playing their roles, but if you manage to take the initiative and interact with them they don't understand what you're doing or what to do next... I tried.

In real life the level of interactivity is much higher than in a limited dream. In dreams, it's best to let yourself be carried away to follow the script and that's it, outside of the main plot there is nothing.

//

Hmm, that's interesting. I remember that from school science lessons- energy can't be destroyed- only transfered from one source to another...

Still, does any of our 'energy' exist as separate from our physical forms? I'm not so sure... We need to take in energy in the form of food (sunlight originally I suppose) in order to function in our 'alive' states. So, I feel that rules us out as some kind of force (while we are still in this state at least). When we die, our bodies either fuel the flames (in cremation) or, feed the worms and maggots (in burial). The whole 'Circle of life' thing. Our physical energy- stored as fat and our physical forms do get recycled.

Still, I guess you are referring to that mysterious life force spark/consciousness. That really puzzles the hell out of me. I don't know if it's a real 'thing' or whether it's just something we tell ourselves to reassure ourselves.
