The economy is on its death bed, AI is considered to be a horrible mistake by the people who've made it, the world is burning so much that cities are being clouded by the ash, the earth is getting warmer faster than ever, more and more animal populations are depleting, the people in charge are trying to silence us more, chemicals are "accidentally" being spilled into our rivers and water supply, nuclear waste is becoming so plentiful that we have to start using it to pave our roads, there is a literal major war happening and the threat of many others due to growing tensions
But no one cares. And at this point, no one will care until it's too late.

These years keep getting worse and worse with no signs of becoming better but everyone is so desensitized to it due to the internet or media that things are forgotten in a flash. All I just mentioned is stuff that has only happened within the past year or so. Some happening even within the past couple of days and weeks (Hope all you Canadians stay safe please.)
How long can we keep being nonchalant about the state of things?

The fact that social media has definitely played a role in people having a shorter attention span, much less allowing them to be aware of things like this and take it seriously. Things are getting worse though, that's for sure, not from Canada at all but I can see it.

The war makes me immensely upset. Human beings are disgusting selfish creatures so it's no big surprise we are destroying the very earth we live on, and trample on lives of others. The hopeless state of the world is only more of a reason to catch the bus before things get even worse.

Asides from not having children, what can we do about it? Do you take action on your beliefs? I had a friend who did so much community voluntary work for recycling. They would go around collecting rubbish that needed specialist recycling centres. I really admired her. But, on the other hand, I suppose I think it also feels like how the late great comedian, Sean Lock described it- bringing a dustpan and brush to an earthquake zone.

It's irresponsible but to a greater extent, I have my head in the sand. A big part of me doesn't want to know how bad things are. I'm so tired of feeling guilty too. Every time I throw something away, I feel guilty. But honestly- I think it's action that counts. I felt better morally after becoming vegetarian- although I still feel bad for not being vegan. It's lazyness at the end of the day. I'd say lots of people do actually care but- not to the point where they are willing to change their own behaviour and give up things they enjoy. What would/will you do to make things better? Or- do you expect other people to do it? It would be nice if the people in power did it- but we definitely can't rely on them.

War, Violence and greed dominated human history far, far more than peace, love and generosity ever has. That's probably one of my top reasons too, catch the bus before shit gets worse and it is, especially since I live in a 3rd world shithole that's going absolutely nowhere so what good reason is there to stick around when the future, by all current indications, will not be better in anyway sort of way that people want to believe for the sake of false optimism.

Glad I won't be having kids either, Not a fan of throwing coal to a fire that only warms the rich & the government.

There are far too many bad things happening all at once : all out wars brewing in large parts of the world between Muslims and western nations , the Russian Ukraine conflict, imminent mass unemployment and financial collapse, mass homelessness.
There seems to be nothing positive going on in the world at the moment.
It's exhausting just reading about this stuff.
I feel sorry for the children who have been forced into this hellscape more than anything.

I don't think that the world is any worse than it has been in the past. The only difference is that more things nowadays are documented due to the increased presence of cameras and social media. Before, the same type of horrible events would take place but most people would never know about it. Most of the worst events in human history took place unbeknownst to the public and went on for years.

Animals and Pets being badly abused and abandoned when no longer needed, trees being destroyed for infill, loss of backyard, gardens and habitat for urban density and ugly high rise apartments, bigger cities so people can shop and spend more money, money, money. Economic development at the expense of the environment. No one cars about nature anymore. No one cares full stop and if they do, its only to feel good about themselves. The things that use to help me beat depression are no longer valued and being destroyed at an alarming rate so only the wealthy and privileged can enjoy them. Then there are the wars, homelessness, widening gap between rich and poor, inflation, over population, unemployment, rise in crime etc etc. Sure these things have always been around but they are increasing at an alarming rate. We really have no idea how much our lives are being dangeroysly manipulated by the powers that be.

My only compensation is that the end times are likely on there way. I just wish Christ would come and end it for me, before I do.

One day the world will end not later than when the sun dies and will end up as a white dwarf. The universe will also die one day and nobody will care about what happened it's just to insignificant in the whole universe and one day the universe will end up dark and cold (probably). Who cares?

the universe gives a shit about that jittery species called homo sapiens. Look at that minuscule time span we exist ... what is a mere 300,000 yrs in comparison to 13,000,000,000 years since the big bang? Our individual lifespan? nothing but a hardly perceptible twinkle that - and here comes the best part of the story - no one recognizes outside there ... and no one is going to miss when its finally over.

If this world permanently disappeared and was erased then I believe it would be for the best. This world is such a hellish and evil place that just causes harm and torture, only the peace of eternal nothingness is truly ideal. It's tragic how anyone has to suffer so senselessly and unnecessarily, there should just be nothing instead.

It's literally over.

Only thing we can do is sit back, disasociate, desensitize, and distract until we can't anymore, then just die.
