  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Multiquote to pinpoint that one strange feature of "4chan" and related corners of the Internet is that despite how underwhelming or repulsive they seem overall, they manage to create incredibly poignant messages or the template of such messages, that then even people that hate them end up using. The NPC meme was very fucking on point in terms of indicating that a large part of the population will just parrot what the current zeitgeist/perceived consensus dictates word by word. Wojak and Doomer were also brilliant creations.

Something funny about 4chan are the photographs you can find of meetups. Despite the racialism/neo-nazism in /pol/ etc, these people are either mixed or visibly low-end genetic specimens (physically). I myself am something of an alt-righter but I look pretty damn Jewish, lmao.
In my case I browsed it for years for a while so it wasn't really hate browsing more so than just habit. I think that's just partially how the internet works, based has became a huge meme on youtube and 4chan but originated from twitter. I do think 4chan has some mysticism around it for people. I found wojak a bit tiring since I've seen soyjaks just used to spam and detrail threads too many times.

But wasn't based also first heard from a similar crowd, young far-right and all that? Based and redpilled. It seems to have emanated from basically the same people.

Maybe? It's been a long time. I don't have the best memory.

When I was an angsty teen we called them "the preps". I wonder if anyone still uses that.

I've come to dislike any terms that are basically designed to just dismiss people. Especially internet-based ones, since the internet already has a tendency to spiral every social interaction in the direction of depersonalization and vulgarization.

Oh yea I remember that one, and also "preppy" was a brand of human being synonymous with being a grade A bitch or wearing name brand polo shirts with daddy's money.
There were some people who willingly took on the label, an odd badge of pride.

I don't really have a problem with people occasionally using the less inflammatory terms, especially if they've been ostracized and irrevocably damaged by a set of worse labels thrown at them by the very same people, but others just aren't as necessary and only breed further hostility.
