Well, if you have a nack for programming and can master a C language, you'll probably have plenty of career opportunities and you won't need a diploma.

And yep to this. A lot of times you are given a programming 'test' for jobs, and degrees/etc aren't always important. They help, and sometimes they make it a requirement, but your skill is valuable too.
