Sadly the moon's actually leaving the earth's orbit... so asteroid would be more likely. or comet... or toilet seat like happened in the tv show 'Dead like me'

I remember that show. The moon is slowly leaving our orbit yes, roughly 4 centimeters per year. We have a second moon though which is slowly moving towards us. The second moon is named Cruithne and if it hits us we're talking an extinction level event.
