  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Reading that MuseScore guy's comments after his post really pissed me off to be honest. He was respectful in the original post but went on to deny all the evidence he was given. That led to me thinking about this place. I think that SaSu has saved more lives then it has "killed" by "encouraging people to kill themselves" (Which is against the rules and doesn't happen). I personally think that I have lived longer and been in less mental destress because of this site. On this forum with all of you I can talk about the things and have the conversations that I actually need to with people who understand me, wont lock me up, won't think less of me, won't question my sanity, and won't give me useless platitudes. I'm suicidal so much and I often feel like I'm a crazy person because no one else around me is (or appears to be), but this place lets me know I'm not alone in that way. I'm AloneInCollege because loneliness is one of the things I deal with the most, here I have people who get it. Thank you SaSu.

Often for those of us who experience chronic loneliness or similar debilitating conditions, our state is worsened by exposure to social media and witnessing healthy people in the outside world. It reinforces a sense that everyone else except us is surrounded by community and living life to the fullest. That is why being able to connect with others who are going through the same thing here is so valuable.

That pro lifer really wrote so much nonsense. But I do think that more people are suicidal than many of us think. After all suicide is such a stigmatised subject with people not able to discuss it openly and have their decision respected. Whenever I hear of someone ctb it doesn't surprise me and someone deciding to leave behind a life that they never asked for couldn't possibly be something wrong in any way, despite what others think. I personally don't get how anyone isn't suicidal in a world like this, at least to me the fact that so many seem to be against suicide is insane. There is no benefit to suffering and trying to prolong life against the person's wishes.

That's my biggest problem with how most societies approach suicide. Talking about it leads to a loss of autonomy, especially if you have a plan. I want to say frankly that I want to end my life without getting locked up. I can't change society to match my wishes, and I can't change myself to match society's. I can't keep going on like this, so it's time to go—but if I say that, I'll be forced to continue to live in this society where I'll never fit in completely, where I'll be visited with traumatic and embarrassing memories every few minutes, where I'll continue to have my needs unmet. Enough is enough!

Emissary of the right to die.

SaSu too, has kept me sane and calm at various times in the last several years. I felt I had a platform where I can speak my mind when it comes to taboo topics especially about suicide, the right to die, and what not. Growing up whenever I searched even the keyword 'suicide' I get bombarded by the stupid hotline number (well before the three digit crap they rolled out just this year) as well as various web results being pro-life and anti-suicide. Even prior to this forum existing (prior to March 14, 2018), I found some niche corner on Reddit before the stupid pro-life reddit mods and admins banned both subreddits (and later quarantined another one, TimeToGo in 2019 or so). While I wouldn't say that SaSu has just kept me alive (it was due to other personal circumstances and things in my life, especially in 2019 when I fulfilled some of my important goals), it has certainly allowed me to find some relief in a sea of indefinite suffering that is existence and life itself.

You seriously explained that so well. It kind of shifted my perspective because I feel like I've heard "Seeing others happy makes you feel bad because your jealous" so much that it became ingrained in my mind and the way that you explained it is such a healthier way to think about it.

It's an internet forum called sanctioned suicide. I've never used it or anything.

Oh I'm right here then. I thought it's short for SS but I guess SaSu works too.
