i think i'm ready now. my family is going away for a week and my health issues just keep getting worse and worse. i want to try SN but i'm scared of it failing and suffering worse. this sucks

So many people have succeeded with SN after all, so I do believe it to be a reliable method if the correct protocol is followed, but I do understand that it's terrifying the thought of a ctb attempt potentially going wrong. I hope that you find freedom from this cruel and horrific existence as it's certainly so awful having to be trapped in a situation of endless torture.

From anecdotal success stories here on SS, some who have not used an AE have been successful. I think most who CTB with SN use an AE, though, along with other meds, a couple of which "take the edge off" and just make the CTB thing easier. By and large, there seems to be some advantage to using an AE.

Not throwing up is essential. AE is supposed to help with that , but technically not 100% necessary. If you're going to try to ctb with SN you might aswell tho

This is excellent advice, I think most people here are overly focused on preventing vomiting and getting antiemetics, they don't consider that reaching out for help is one of the biggest hurdles to a successful suicide. What are you planning to do about your phone/preventing yourself from reaching out for help? I'm thinking of putting my phone in my mailbox.

They are important for the method to go well, and they are less difficult to source. I just ordered some meto and propranolol from an online pharmacy.

I've read every thread I could find where the SN attempt was observed and they took meto. In every case they vomited despite the meto, in most cases they vomited within a couple minutes. All these cases were still successful. I'm really not convinced in the essential status of meto in regards to SN attempts.

I know meto is used successfully to treat nausea in hospitals, but do we really have enough to data to suggest it helps prevent vomiting with poisoning or even SN in general?

It will only fail if

1. you don't follow protocol (ie: you don't fast, don't take a second glass after vomiting, etc)
2. You call for help
3. You are found.

The threads you read are from people who either didn't follow the protocol or were found or called for help. IntelligentLeg also was inconsistent about her dosage through out their thread so take their experience with a bigger grain of SN than they probably took (Like that pun?).

Get a hotel room and do it there. Who knows what may happen. The worst and the most unlikely scenario always ends up happening, it never hurts to be extra safe

I'm thinking of ctb on this remote hiking trail, there's a canyon area that's covered by trees and rocks and barely anyone ever goes over there, especially in the colder months. The only parking available would be about a mile's walk away so I'm planning on leaving my phone in the car, so even if I last minute decided I needed to call 911, my body would probably give out before I could even reach it.

I had the same thought, only doing it on a mountain top thats near me. its about an hour hike up and they close the parking lot at dark so no one is there after sunset. Thinking about sitting up there for most of the day and then drinking SN after one last sunset.

In order for it to be successful the protocol is best to be followed. I wouldn't ingest a poison that would likely make me throw up without an anti-emetic.

Basically this, even with anti emetic people will still throw up in lots of case, the most important is having a second glass at hand reach and turning your phone off and putting it away in a closet or something.

SN failures are largely attributable to source, purity, and decomposition. Also note that it's Sodium Nitrite (not Nitrate)! A share of the failure stories are likely attributable to skipping a beat on attention to detail (or mislabeling by rouge sources). The easier and more unofficial or freestyle your source, the higher the chances SN attempts will fail.

Pure Reagent (Technical Grade) SN is the ironclad grade. Unfortunately, they are sold by major labs and expensive, Fortunately, if you have the will, it's not hard to source Technical Grade either. Just have to jump through a few more hoops.
