Oregon requires you to be terminally ill by six months though. This is a HUGE difference.

I read all the FAQs and apparently you can join Exit International and there is a way around having to bring someone with you. I honestly see no catch other than if you specifically suffer from only depression or you do not have a CC handy to foot the bill.

For legal reasons, everyone who comes for a VAD at Pegasos must have someone known to them who is able to identify them to the authorities after they have died.

If you do not have a family member or friend willing or able to come with you to Pegasos, we suggest you join Exit International.

Once you are a member of Exit International you can discuss with them how they may be able to identify you after you are gone; thereby fulfilling the Swiss regulations.

I am still unsure about ordering from D in case something is wrong and I just get brain damage or something.

You have to send them a picture of yourself holding your ID up to your head that shows you are over 50. If you just wanted to purchase the PPeH, they only want an ID and don't ask to prove it is you, but anything more and you need to prove it to them.

I read their site and if mental illness is present the prospect has to see their in-house psychiatrist prior. I'd guess the psych approves people regularly, I'm curious what grounds they have for denying people in that regard.

I think Pegasos is the best swiss association. If you don´t have a person to identify you, you can become a member of Exit International and they will send someone. But you have to pay for the travel expenses for that person. But first you have to become a member of both associations and pay the anual fee.

Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries of the world. Pegasos has been fighting in court facing lawsuits and litigating throughout these years. It is a relatively new organization. It is a good option, it's expensive, yes, but things will change over time, I'm sure about that.


Age is a factor. Keep in mind that. For those in their 20's, the consent from their parents is usually necessary. One of the most professional and best options available right now.

Because of money and competition made them cheaper and affordable overtime.

Without medical issues and at the age of 24 I highly doubt it they approve your application. Having a condition is equally valid, no need to be ill.

Processing takes 4-6 weeks. I suggest you become a member. After that you contact them by e-mail and ask all your questions and explain your situation. Make sure you have all the paperwork ready when you submit the application.

I went with a close relative of mine a few years ago. I helped him to apply VAD and throughout the whole process. Rule number one: do not rush, take it easy. If your condition is acceptable for them, chances to get the VAD approval are high. And the process can be really quick, like 4/5 weeks. However, there are important factors to consider here. First of all: your condition or illness. Second: enduring pain or unbearable suffering. Third: your age. Fourth: treatments you underwent. Fourth: family support (it's important for them). Fifth: medical reports. Sixth: some info regarding your background, family, etc. Seventh: do not put pressure on them, let alone letting them know any suicidal thoughts.

If you comply with those requirements, shouldn't be a problem to get approval. If you have any doubt regarding the acceptability of your condition, email them in order to make sure it is an acceptable condition to apply for VAD.

I am on medical disability for depression but I have no clue if I am a candidate or not. I'm still just happy about the fact that I have vet N from D.
