  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

depending on how much you're prepared to spend, you could arrange for a doula to accompany you. I've considered this when my time comes
(not that I've gone any further than thinking about it but I'm sure that one of the doulas wouldn't mind a quick weekender to switzerland, all expenses paid)
Unfortunately it seems they will only do it for the terminally ill.
But it seems becoming lifetime member of Exit solves the issue. They can send someone.

Tinnitus & Assisted Dying:

I must admit that I didn't know much about this affliction. Many people dismiss it as simply an occasional ringing in the ears.

On looking into it, I see that it's so much more than that! It's a perception of sound with the brain being the key player. Those with severe cases experience a greatly reduced quality of life which include depression, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, mood swings, irritability. It's been described as non-stop, excruciating, 24/7/365 torture.

It can and has driven people to suicide. At least one member of this forum is currently suffering from an extreme case.

It's not classified as a terminal disease. Because of this, those looking at assisted dying as an alternative had nowhere to turn. Dignitas and other similar organizations, the U.S. states where physician-assisted suicide is legal, and other jurisdictions do not recognize tinnitus as a valid reason for suicide.

The new Swiss assisted dying organization Pegasos does.

This is the current main thread on pegasos yes?

Was everyone asked for photo ID in their first response email? My initial impression is not a particularly positive one. Found the reply condescending, though it's quite possible my interpretation is skewed by emotion. Arriving at the point where you realize you do not have any other options than suicide is not something anyone wants. This is one of the most intense decisions to have to make and one only hopes and wants to be met with understanding and sensitivity on the other end regardless of if they are able to help practically in the form of a VAD.

No, typically not asked for a photo ID at initial contact.

As you know, it's often hard to gauge someone's tone or intent through written communication. I agree with you that your interpretation might be skewed by your very real and justified emotion. They are typically very kind and compassionate, but they also will tell you the truth: they wouldn't really be helping you by leading you on.

Feel free to PM me. I wish you the best of luck, hang in there.

Again, compassion to me is not asking you to pay money just to get questions answered.........

And again, my friend, I think just perhaps...just maybe...you have misunderstood something that you read. I do it all the time, so does everyone. I don't know your circumstances or experiences.

They will never charge you money to answer questions.

Over & out with you on this here in public. Please feel free to PM me, maybe I can help straighten things out.

Peace.

I'd even take out a loan if this was an option. But I doubt pegasos will accept me

Why don't you think they would accept you?
Because I'm young and have mental health issues on my medical records. Surprisingly they told me to apply. Posted a thread about it yesterday

I saw a video of someone at dignitas who called it quits. They had a family member there to ensure they did the job. I would always be concerned about them not terminating the life of the client, but rather keeping the client alive for scientific experiments or some other shit.
Okay .... that sounds really creepy. But not that far-fetched. Or perhaps I've read too many books? I don't know ...

Even though I can afford it, that doesn't mean I want to spend it! But you're right, your question is the one that I keep asking myself.

And as far as acceptance goes, as long as you are over 18 and not suffering from a mental illness--are rational and competent--you will be accepted.
I understand the hesitation. Dying is personal. Opening it up to others can make it feel less so.
N via IV is a dream for all of us isn't it?
Yes

If you have a close friend or family member who would respect your desire to end your life then perhaps he / she could be there to ensure the deed is carried out.

im pretty sure it's a protocol to ensure your death.
well, of course. i was referring to the 'keeping the client alive for scientific experiments or some other shit.'

Yes that was me that originally suggested that possiblity—admittedly at times I get paranoid about the World. This is why I think that if possible, if one can use assisted dying, then better to have a family or friends there to keep the entire process correct.

It is my understanding that Pegasos requires you to bring a companion to verify your identity to Swiss Authorities in order for them to certify death. It seems like that would resolve any question about keeping you alive for experimentation.

Maybe they're the people who went for the budget option.

What is "Exit"? Is that another assisted dying service? Does Swiss law allow for someone to call it quits for reasons of mental health?

In order to stay in operation and continue helping people, Pegasos must follow the very restrictive Swiss laws. Swiss law (not Pegasos) says that the person must have someone with him who knows him and can identify the body. That's it, it's their law. It's not to stop Dr. Frankenstein from using your body parts.

Afterwards, after the authorities have been called and completed their paperwork, your body is cremated.

No, I have two serious diseases that will eventually leave me either bedridden or a vegetable or both. Suicide is 100% for sure for me, I came to this site a couple of months ago as part of my research into methods. I'm 71, had a decent life, ready to go.
Hi fightsioux was your pegasos experience?
