Lindsay Clancy is 100% criminally responsible but I hope this case sheds some light on the psychiatric system, and how psychiatric drugs can be a slippery slope. She started with Zoloft which then evolved her insomnia symptoms, which led her to having anxiety which led her to benzodiazepines, which eventually led to quetiapine: an extremely serious antipsychotic that can cause homicidal thoughts.
This system is an absolute horror-show. It's so serious and so scary that nobody wants to touch it with a 10-foot pole.
To abbreviate, innocent people experiencing suicidal thoughts are being kidnapped by police and having their lives stolen with requirements to be injected with heroic doses of mind-numbing agents, then are gaslit about their side effects and left with a hospital bill upwards of $10,000. This is happening by the thousands in our country, and the people who are not "in the system" do not care, because they aren't seeing it from the perspective of the patient. They believe that the patient is mentally ill and deserves whatever horrors they're enduring, but that's not true. Some of the stories that I've heard while interviewing psychiatric patients are things I would not wish on my worst enemy.
Quetiapine and antipsychotics especially are extremely serious, and they are being prescribed off-label for neurotic illnesses, or only mild psychotic symptoms that could have been handled better with wellness strategies. These drugs will only make you crazier than you already were. The research is finally starting to come out that most of these will make you violent, make you want to kill yourself, and possibly make you kill other people.
What Clancy did was absolutely unforgivable and horrendous, but the psychiatric system is also incomprehensibly evil, and she was a victim of that.
A toxic mixture of antipsychotics, antidepressants, and benzodiazepines, all building up inside your brain, which is what Lindsay Clancy was experiencing prior to the murders of her 3 children, is not and will never be a cure for mental disease. Her brain was extremely affected by these chemicals… I think this is a very simple concept to understand. There should be a movement to take Abilify, Zoloft, Prozac, Haldol, Invega Sustenna off the map because they're band-aid solutions for catastrophic outcomes. Robust nutrition combined with other health and wellness strategies trump medications every time, and these options should at least be exhausted before the prescription of any psychiatric medication.
