I have heared that sunshine can cure so many things, I use really to love the sun - but since this last chronic episode of depression where I realise there is no point carrying on in grief and suffering with no hope, while being the laughing stock of many people from my past and present, I just cant bear the sun anymore - its so bright it hurts my eyes. It too seems to mock me. Do other people feel like this in regards to sunlight?

Yes, and I hate hearing birds singing in the morning (something I used to love). I don't want to think about all of the beautiful trees & flowers etc outside, since I have nothing to do with any of it anymore.

I'm not a big fan of the sun. It hurts my eyes and it killed so many people because of these terrible heatwaves in May/June/July (at least 12 000 people died in EU). Now I may have eco-anxiety. When I see the sun, I see it as an enemy. Last winter I realized that foggy days are more in accordance with my sad mood. Sun is overrated. And keep in mind that most suicides happen in spring and summer.

I was sunbathing for 3 hours recently, and a few days later, I completely lost hearing in my right ear. At the hospital, they gave me strong steroids. They told me that excessive sun exposure causes a lot of inflammation, and your body loses its immunity almost completely. Safe sunbathing is up to 30 minutes a day.

The sun is too hot and too bright for me. I know studies show exposure to sunlight improves mood and helps regulate sleep so I try to keep myself around sunlight (not in it because cancer) for most of the day. But I find it depressing.

I actually tried to sit out in the sun for once in many years. I pulled out a book to read, but it didn't last very long. It was relaxing at first, but I just couldn't sit still. I'm constantly anxious and stressed out. The more I sat there, the more I thought about how I was gonna ctb. I imagined myself pulling a gun out and shooting out my own brains right then and there. Weirdly enough, the thought of my own death comforted me much more than the sun, and I was able to calm down slightly. I left in like 20 minutes lol

The idea that the sun is mocking you is so interesting. I have a similar experience. When the day is rising you know how everything is fresh and quiet at dawn - I remember that feeling like a caress, like nature was greeting me like a gentle parent, like everything in it was my friend and a new day had some sort of exciting secret that it couldnt tell me yet.
Now I'm 40. And I've been through hell (who hasnt right?) Now it feels different. I wouldnt say evil, but definitely not loving. Its more like nature fell out of love with me but...still has to see me at work or smth.

I hate it. It was supposed to rain all day yesterday. It barely did and was sunny a lot. Yes it mocks us. Leave us to our depression.

Actually I've heard differently and where hospitals have put people in the sun it has strengthened their immunity and helped healing - but being on steroids possibly makes a difference.

As someone who use to love the sun, I don't know understand but bring on the rain and grey skies - it's kind of comforting, almost allows and provides an excuse to be so down.

`Yes and the people who claim they love the sun are also complaining about the weather as soon as the temp hits 30c. Then suddenly it's too hot and whatnot. yeah no kidding, at least I'm consistent I don't care how cold it is as long as it's cold im happy.
