How come people that are suicidal are automatically considered as mentally ill while people who commit murder are not?

Sure, there are cases where a murderer can plead insanity and end up in a hospital vs prison but the grounds to plead insanity in these cases are far more extreme. Like you need to be hearing voices and have 6 different personalities to be considered insane in a murder case.

People who are willing to take the life of someone else are truly the sick ones.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, I'm just curious as to why this is? Or maybe it's just a US thing?
I also apologize if there are other posts like this one.

Not every person who murders is mentally ill, but majority have suffered within their lives.

I think there are instances where a suicidal person is not mentally ill (although they would be committed to hospital).

it's the same with the homicidal. there are just a lot more reasons to kill someone else without mental illness than there is to CTB without mental illness. things such as money, heartbreak, gang/cartel violence, and more.

this study also shows that the prevalence of homicidal ideation is high amongst the general population- higher than the rates of people with diagnosed schizophrenia

it is for the combined reasons that most homicidal people do not have any discernible mental illness, and that the act of homicide is neglecting the agency of another human that I believe homicide is treated criminally while suicide is not.
